I saw this great version of Dylan's 'Blood on the Tracks' somewhere the other day and had to get it. I was so glad I did. It is in my opinion, a whole lot better than the original released studio version! well, this isn't a released disc or anything as I am presuming it's a bootleg of sessions put together...hmmm google!

(another possible problem - The cover says 'track 6 recorded at..) and yet it has already listed track 6 as being at the same date as the first tracks!? So I give it the benefit of the doubt that they meant to say track 8 as it is the only one missing from the list!)

Anyway...these are some of my all time favourite Dylan songs and I hope they bring you some enjoyment.
Wow...whilst looking for more websites on this, I discovered a few tracks of different versions! They are from other bootlegs which I think I can get pretty quickly if anyone wants them (I know I do!) but go to this page and click the links down by the left of the page to listen to the tracks being streamed. They give you two versions of each track, the final released BOTT version and a bootleg to compare how it differs.

There are 5 tracks in all. Oh and two outtakes too. Is that seven then? :)
I am downloading the streams and will re-up them so that you can have them for keeps instead of only playing them in a web browser which is a load of balls!
Remember the quality of a streamed file is usually low so when I re upload them don't be complaining about them being wma files or whatever they be!
There is also two tracks there that were not included in the final release so I haven't ever heard them...maybe you too. Names are Call Letters Blues & Up To Me (which I have to say is absolute classic pre-ego Dylan as far as I'm concerned!)

Mary Lee's Corvette was pretty gutsy when the band decided to cover Bob Dylan's 1975 classic, Blood on the Tracks, one September evening in 2001. Frontwoman Mary Lee Kortes wasn't entirely sure she wanted to go through with it, but lucky for listeners she did. What happened that evening was a magical turn of events at Arlene's Grocery in New York City. Kortes, who's vocally reminiscent of Maria McKee, proved to herself that she had what it took to pay tribute to her favorite artist without sounding too much like Mr. Dylan. Naturally, she was nervous, but the instrumentation of Mary Lee's Corvette didn't let that be known. Once the band kicked into the eight-minute rendition of "Idiot Wind," Mary Lee's Corvette soared into the night with a heavy disposition. "Meet Me in the Morning" follows suit with its gritty guitar drawl; Kortes truly lets it all go thanks to the nasty musical tango between her and guitarist Andy York. Who knew a Bob Dylan song could be so sexy? Mary Lee's Corvette gives new breadth to a timeless collection. She did it right, too. She invited members of the audience to join her on the country jaunt "Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts," allowing fellow fans to deliver their own Dylan impersonations. It's oddly hilarious, but leave it to Kortes to bring it back to the spotlight. While the harmonica on "Tangled Up in Blue" is sharp, the acoustics on the album are tight, reeling the crowd into the soundscape of each song. Blood on the Tracks: Recorded Live at Arlene's Grocery captures Kortes' musical spirit; the concept is quite impressive given that it is only her second album.

Singer-songwriter Mary Lee Kortes decided to tackle Bob Dylan's masterpiece of romantic disillusionment and wanderlust on a whim when she learned that the New York nightclub Arlene's Grocery needed someone to cover the 1975 classic for one of its Classic Album Nights. The experiment in channeling rock's greatest bard was so otherworldly for Kortes and her band Mary Lee's Corvette that they've now released this impassioned and athletic homage to Blood on the Tracks on CD. While it's tempting to compare this disc to Exile in Guyville, Liz Phair's retort to the Rolling Stones's Exile on Main Street, this is much more a mash note to the great man than a rejoinder. Kortes's strong, sinewy voice careens artfully through the 10 songs, as if she were a medium tapping into Dylan's mind, perfectly mimicking his cadence and idiosyncratic phrasing without entirely losing herself in the process. While no shrinking violet, Kortes does succeed in bringing a woman's vision to the collection, if only between the lines (she makes no attempt to change the gender in the lyrics). But Kortes inhabits a song like "Buckets of Rain" completely, giving it a guileless innocence that Dylan could never have anticipated. --Jaan Uhelszki
This is a companion piece to the original Blood On The Tracks, it does not seek to replace it. Bob Dylan liked it, too. He posted one of the songs onto his website.
Since the idea was to play someone else's album live, for fun, not too many liberties have been taken with the songs or their arrangements. Idiot Wind follows the angry album version rather than the earlier version on the Bootleg Series CD; alternative verses of Lily are not adopted, as they are not heard on the album. What we get is the body of the original album inhabited by another soul who is a gifted singer, and it is a purged soul, with warmth, spirit, anger and all the other emotions to be found in the songs. It is all we could ask of such an undertaking.

A few years back New York bar called Arlene's Grocery had a promotion called Classic Album Night: performers were invited to do a set consisting of song for song renditions of iconic sides. Ms. Kortes volunteered to do "Blood On The Tracks" as the finale on an evening when other artists had done "After The Gold Rush" and The Band's second album
. The document that resulted is a useful way to re-listen to a work that can sometimes elude its original emotional impact due to over-familiarity. There is no better album about heartbreak-- "Sinatra Sings For Only the Lonely" and "In the Wee Small Hours" are its only peers-- but because of its immediacy, and because it has been so frequently applied as a balm its power can occasionally be blunted. Ms. Kortes knows its power, and approaches each song with a freshness that signals her enthusiasm and deep love for the material. She understands "Blood On The Tracks", and feels it the way that all of us who love the album have felt it.
"You'll never know the hurt I suffered nor the pain I rise above"-- it must have felt wonderful to have snarled those words in front of a tight playing band, halfway through the set, knowing that she'd found the heart of this music and that this risky adventure was coming together. Ron Rosenbaum's theories notwithstanding, I believe that the key to "Blood On The Tracks" is "You're A Big Girl Now", which is Dylan's singing at its most plaintive. She nails it. She even gets the humor, calling up an audience member to sing the first couple of verses of "Lilly, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts". The liner notes say that the guest vocalist told her later that he'd almost lost his job at the law firm where he worked because of his undignified performance, but it is hilarious, a little tour of Dylan's vocal quirks. It's too bad, in a way, because I love the song and would like another serious version, but in the context of the album it really works. Too bad she sticks to the verses on the album: there is at least one-- Joan Baez sings it-- that he skips, so she skips it too. ("Lilly" is one of those Dylan songs that sounds like he must have a trunk full of, even though it really is unique. A symbolic Western-- could anything be more Dylanesque? There are plenty of Dylan shaggy dog stories, but nothin' like the Jack of Hearts.)
