The Raconteurs at Glastonbury Festival 2008 (FULL SET DIVX VIDEO!)

Hey Hey Hey it's me again...
The Raconteurs. yes I know, I am obsessed already.
I fuckin' love this band with a passion!
I sorted out the files I found for each song on video and have posted them as separate tracks for those that want them that way but, as they are all the same format and bitrate they do join together (they were probably one file at some point methinks) and so, the best way to join them is a little script I wrote that you can download along with the files. Just grab all the files, put them in the same folder as the script file contents, run the script and Nandub program will join them all exactly as they should be. (If you do it with some other 'video joiner' program it is likely there will be spaces or glitches introduced so you are warned! this way is the right way!).

So anyway, the video...it's a rockin' show.
I have now seen quite a few concerts and heard a few bootlegs of this band and I have to say, this glastonbury set is among their best for ful on performance and energy.

It's brilliant I swear it.

I will just post the bloody links...

OASIS - The Lost Tapes (1993)

Hello folks.
I heard a thing on the radio the other day, Oasis. One of their first songs from way back 'when I were a lad'..hehe.
People always say - if they like Oasis at all- that their first album was the best or even the only album they ever made that was any good but I beg to differ.

All of my drug taking, mad, partying days were done to the theme of 'What's the story Morning glory' so I have a bit of an affinity with that album...some might say, Champagne supernova, etc. We used to have some mad times to those 'anthems'. Of course I have calmed down since those days of ecstasy and amphetamines and endless Weed....ho hum...
Music means many things to many people and it all depends on what it meant to you at the time, what you did with the music, as well as the basics of whether the songs are actually well written or good tracks right?
Well they were saying that a new Oasis album is on the cards and wondering what it might be like. I wonder.
Do 'the lads' have it still?
I don't feel confident to say yes they do...they have produced some right shite in the past.
We shall see eh.

It was after hearing the radio stuff I went looking and found the following album. One I have known about but never managed to have a listen until now and I wasn't disappointed so, if you are a fan then you should like it. If not then have a try anyway cos' it's bloody good!
Hehe.
Demo's and takes of tracks that you wouldn't otherwise have heard and, the quality of the recording is great.
Enjoy.

SONDRE LERCHE Live at Paradiso Club, Amsterdam...check it out.

Hello once more.
Just a quick post to point you to a website I just discovered and specifically a band that I am really thinking is damn good.
I only discovered the site and the band about half an hour ago right so, if I am wrong then so be it.

Beat me later.
For now I will recommend you have a listen and see what you think.
It gives me a chance to test out the websites video embedding facility too.
Get on over there and find yourself a concert to watch..streaming, nice quality if your bandwidth is large enough (mine is about 6-7Mbit down and 48K up and it goes really well). You don't even have to register to watch or search the videos:
http://www.fabchannel.com

The band is unknown to me (called Faces Down) and the singer is Sondre Lerche. I won't pretend to know anything and fully admit to doing what you could do yourself but here it is anyway...copy and paste a little info for you:
Through the records of his older brother and sisters, the Norwegian singer/songwriter Sondre Lerche discovered A-Ha, The Beach Boys and Elvis Costello. Inspired by their music he picked up the guitar. At the age of 14, Sondre started playing open mic nights in different clubs. He got signed by Virgin even before his 16th birthday.
After his 2002 debut 'Faces Down', 2007 saw the release of his already fourth record 'Phantom Punch'. It was recorded with his band The Faces Down and is, contrary to its subtle predecessors, a punchy and danceable pop record.

I bloody like it I must say.
Hmm. Things are looking up.
I like two new(to me) bands in as many weeks?

I hope you will watch this concert and enjoy it.

[[If you cannot watch a concert above click here to open it in a new page]]

More soon my diehard visitors.

Thanks for your support by the way.

The Raconteurs - Live at Vegoose, Las Vegas 10-28-2006

Hey Hey Heeeyy!!!!! Another update so soon? Posting them one after the other?
Me Oh My I must be losing it. Perhaps I am just starting to get it together. We shall see. I never make promises around here any more as I never stick to them right? So lets just take it as it comes, like I am having to do with the old illness these recent months.

I told you I was obsessed with The Raconteurs and, well, I didn't lie.
When I get obsessed with a certain band or music, I go full on into it...head first. Sometimes this results in my having a bit of an overdose and, if the band isn't up to it (hehe) then I can even get sick of them really soon and have to stop. Sometimes I have actually gone off a band that way and never liked them much afterwards - even though upon first impressions I thought they were just amazing(think, Jason Mraz...). I am happy to say that I am not usually this fickle. That has only happened on rare occasions.

Here we have a live set by my favourite band(!).

I wasn't there, I don't even know where it is but I do know it sounded great. They don't let you down as they, just like at Glastonbury as I mentioned before, put out such a blast of Bluesy rock that just hits me right in the soul...
Or somewhere. I'm not sure exactly where. It hits me though.

There is no getting away from the progressive rock influences in their music. Yet it isn't done in a way that, as can happen often these days, makes people run the other way and say it's a load of old hippy shit. Hehe.
No. The Raconteurs do it inside the complete package that is their whole Rock Music thing. Metal, Folk, Country, Blues and then some...
..sometimes so many styles in a single track, sometimes one track is country/blues/psychedelic and the next sounds just so much Pure Rock or,...well, what we have come to call 'indie'.
Whatever that really means but I think you get what I am saying.
Maybe I should say 'alternative'.
Anyway I love how they blend all of these great parts of music together into their own thing and out comes The Raconteurs. No boring and overrated White Stripes...and no Brandon Benson not quite doing so well either...The Raconteurs have been practising from what I can gather and they really are the ones to be listening to for your sounds of summer. These guys play so well together it hurts. The drummer is very much every bit as good as Keith Moon etc. Watch him..he is mesmerizing, he gets so immersed in the music.
That's all music is about in my mind. That immersion. that feeling that lasts whilst the music is flowing. When you are the one creating the music you really get to experience it like nothing else.

It's weird to be coming to the party so late. The astute among you (are there any? - people here I mean..hehe) will have noticed that this band I am saying is so great and new(to me) has music out since 2006.
I know. I think I may have been in a 'UK music is boring and USA music is just as crap' induced coma until recently.
I am waking up.
Slowly.

This show is in great and very clear sound quality.
It's incredible the level of quality some tapers accomplish.
This is a fine example of that.
You wouldn't think the guy was taping the show but I suppose, it isn't exactly taping like when I were a lad is it.
..you know, cassette tapes and those rectangular tape recorder machines with the strap?

Maybe not.

The Raconteurs, Consolers of The Lonely [2008]

Hello fellow ingrates... I thought I would try something new today that is, post an update only one day after the last one. Wow. I am so overcome with interest and excitement for this great music that The Raconteurs are giving my head that I am obviously becoming too happy.
Must keep an eye on that situation eh.
I have now sourced quite a few goodies by them and will be putting each of them up here as I sort them...
Some great bootlegs are available to all...if you just know how or where to look for them. Etree is a good place now and then as is The Traders Den and I discovered that they seem to be OK with taping at their chows which is always nice of a band to be that way. Some of them are real cnuts when it comes to taping.

I hate to be so common and all but I feel I can't tell you about how great their album is and then not actually let you hear it so, in common with a million other blogs over the past few erm...however long it is (!) ...
... here is their latest album and well may you enjoy it too.

The Raconteurs, Broken Boy Soldiers [2006]

Hello again...long time no see and all that.
I wasn't fit or lucky enough to actually go to the Glastonbury festival yet again but I was lucky enough to be in front of the TV just at the right time to see something I considered pretty spectacular!
Yeah, really.
It isn't as inevitable as it sounds-being in front of the TV I mean: I rarely watch TV these days...I can't stand the diet of utter shite they feed us through the TV wires.
It stinks.
Big time.
I hate it.
Advertising actually makes me angry.
Maybe anger management would be the answer. If I lived in America maybe.
Over here we just live in our bitterness and stew in it.
Releasing it at weekends is the usual pastime. At football matches or in pubs when the fighting is mandatory.

Anyway...!
The raconteurs.
Why had I not listened to them before now?
Jack White.
The problem I had with this band, or any band he was in(or with) in the past would be one thing...the word 'tosser' always overtook my mind and it was always a bit off-putting. He just..arrgghh! He just pissed me off.
I am so judgemental it hinders my enjoyment sometimes.
Obviously.
Naa. I don't agree with that last statement at all.
I reckon, until Jack White started this last album with The Raconteurs he was a bit of a wash out. Not quite hitting it. Always working away, always putting out music but somehow, something wasn't quite doing it.
Not for me anyway and I know I'm not alone in this.

So on we go to 2008 and their Glastonbury performance.
Did you see it?
Were you THERE...you lucky person...grr...envy...
Would you like to see it in pretty good captured from digital TV, their set on there? (Let me know as I have it and I love it) - leave comments.
I justsat and watched it. that's all.
Fucking absolutely mind-blowing is all I can say.
They were so tight, reminded me of what you might term 'the perfect Rock band' or something... hehe.
Seriously!
Led Zeppelin used to do that.
To have a band in 2008 that even comes close (and admittedly they do sound like them too in some tracks) is just incredible.
I have been listening to them a lot since I watched them and it just gets better.
They really rock!

I am posting the older album for you here as it would seem the new one is everywhere already (I will post it next of course!).
So if you are late to the joys of this best band of our times then here is your chance...start now.
Good night!
