Jimi Hendrix - LA Without the Words (Outtakes 1969-70) [Bootleg (ATM 006)]

Tis' me.
Shit.
It'll soon be Christmas.
What the fuck is Christmas anyway?
What does it mean to anyone?
I look forward to the day we decide to cut all of the bullshit and just go right ahead and rename it to 'Capitalists celebration week' or 'the Get fat and spend your cash holidays'. I know, if I took a bit more time I could come up with something a bit snappier but you get the general idea: Christmas?
Baby Jesus?
A manger?
People 'pretending' like they care about more than how much cash their mates spent on the present they gave them, was it as expensive as the one you got them?
People stop being selfish for one day?
(I doubt most can even manage that).
Who really believes there is a 'spiritual' side to Christmas?
Heh.
I like the old Santa idea but that has gone shite too these days as far as I can see. Kids are growing up so fast with their media-bombarded 'I want-I want-I want' brains that they quickly forget Santa and start wanting as much as they can get out of the whole holiday. You give them some gift or other and you can almost hear their brains thinking...'how much did this cost, this isn't what I wanted, I wanted a triple super fucked up brain dead games console just like everyone else hasn't really got but the media tells me they have!'
To think I used to be happy with a good Christmas dinner and a few things in me Christmas stocking.
Maybe that is a romanticised pile of bullshit too. I can't remember..
I think I'm getting old: I hate Christmas.
By the way, do all holidays have to start with a CAPITAL LETTER or is it, as I suspect, solely due to the religiousness of it?
Bollocks.

Well let's move on class.
Try to keep up.

ATM number 006
LA without The Words

You most likely, if you have half a heart for Hendrix music, have seen this around or heard of it or heard it play! Well now you can replace that old 128k set with this one. (If you have the FLAC files then ignore that last remark!).
Is it any good? Hmm. I could say OF COURSE IT MUST BE as it is Hendrix we are talking of here but you probably want a little more than that right.
Like the title suggests, this is an instrumental (though not entirely) CD's worth of tracks. There are some blinding tracks on there too. There is a track called 'Beginnings', I recommend it!
Then you have 'The Things I used to Do' which is a cool blues song, just that basic old 12-bar blues and Hendrix really knows how to make it work. Some of his brilliant and almost raging guitar work on 'Lover Man' too which has to be heard.
Overall, this is a very blues album.
One of my favourites again(!) and it's a nice part of the Hendrix catalogue to hear such basic blues being played so well...the guy breathed it.
It just reminds you of how there was no need for playing with the teeth and all that shit, just give him some blues backing and let him go.
Have a listen.

Covers included.

Jimi Hendrix - To the Highest Bidder - Sotheby's Plus 1967-68 [Bootleg (ATM 005)]

Hello again.
This is getting worse eh.
No appearance for two days is not good. Or is it three?
Oh well, I'm here now.

The number 005 ATM isn't as rare as a lot of the others as it has been doing the rounds quite a bit in the last year or so...I have seen it all over the net in various states, usually FLAC files but I even saw some idiot trading it in WAVS, uploaded to rapidshare too no less. I mean that is just dumb. The FLAC format takes WAV files and compresses them with no loss of any data (Just like a Rar file compresses many formats with no loss of data). So there is no reason to be uploading and downloading FULL WAV FILES. Unless you are an idiot.
Right, that's that put to rights, here is a little info and then the links...

ATM 005 - Jimi Hendrix - To the Highest Bidder - Sotheby's Plus 1967-68

Sorry people but all I can tell you about this is what I read in the text that came with it...not bloody much, here you go - copy&paste:
(Outtakes 1967-68: The Sotheby Tapes plus Studio Center Studios, New York City, NY 13.03.68) Very Low Gen - * Speed corrected
Well that's it! At least we know where it was recorded!
Know any more? Tell us the facts then & leave it in the comments!
There is a good bit of extra info on the cover...click this picture for a large one you can read - it'll open in a new window (doesn't everything around here?)

Tracklist
1. Wait Until Tomorrow ( 3:20)
2. Ain't No Telling ( 1:46)

I just realised, as I don't usually state the quality of the files, All of the Hendrix ATM sets are ripped from FLAC or discs and encoded at the highest VBR MP3 setting...so 320/256K/bps, 44,000Hz (no point in upping it from the original), Stereo and VBR High. All tagged and named very well even if I do say so myself!
:)
Enjoy won't you!

Bob Dylan Theme Time Radio Hour Episode 56 (S02E06) 'CADILLAC' [HIGH QUALITY MP3]

Hello me ol' muckas.
Erm, quite.
Amazing how fast a week goes by. I can tell I'm getting shit at this when I look at the number of posts I've done in between episodes of Theme Time. Last time it was only two. Shit.
I don't want this site to only be the Theme Time Radio hour site, besides, seems there are lots of those around now (I was one of the first right, remember that. Heh).
As I keep going on about: it really is just a case of being too friggin' ill to sort myself out and get some good music posted up here, as much as I would like to. I do make sure that whatever happens I will not miss an episode of this show though so that's something.
I am going to stop harping on about it (honest) and also not going to keep promising to get better or more updates etc on the site as I wouldn't want to make empty promises too often... instead I'll just try and surprise you.
The only way the site will stop completely is if I die in my sleep.
Well I suppose if I die in any way come to think of it.
Asleep, or not.

So, what's happening?

Oh yeah...Dylan . . .

There's links working already on the Dylan Page but if the mirror links you want are not clickable, it is because they are uploading right now. Just check back to the page every ten mins or so and the newest links will be added as they arrive!

Jimi Hendrix - Live in Milwaukee (2CDR) 1968 [Bootleg (ATM 004)]

No change on the horizon yet.
Sorry folks.
Next in the series for you...no info. :(

Copied &pasted info is better than nothing so here goes:

Live in Milwaukee (ATM 004 / 05.12.1998 / 2CDR)
(The Scene, Milwaukee, WI 28.02.68 [1st Show complete, 2nd Show almost complete]) Aud; 1st Gen ? [Master > DAT > Cassette > CDR *] - Digitally Restored (Eq'd & edited **)
[* There's some confusion surrounding the exact lineage for this set, but this is most likely correct. It is however possible that it's in fact a copy of the Master, with no cassette in the lineage. ** The Raw version of this tape has the following cuts during the 1st Show: Intro has 5 cuts and silence, "Tax Free" (17) has a short cut and silence at 0.21, and "Red House" (91) has a short cut and silence at 1.31; These cuts have all been spliced together here.]
notes:
- Refer to Jimpress issue 61 p.57-58 & issue 62, p.6-13 for a comprehensive review of this tape.

Jimi Hendrix - Electric Lady Mixing Sessions -1970- [Bootleg (ATM 002)]

Hello again.
I seem to have lost a whole day somewhere. not sure where it went or how it happened but I am behind you be about 24 hours. Maybe more. Or less.. I'm still friggin cruising the illness here and it's a bitch because as I said a little while ago, I'm trying to beat it more than ever before...yet it's just so bad right now. I can't produce a miracle sometimes.
(most of the time I can...just not 'sometimes'.)
So if you can't bear with me then er...don't then.

Not many detail son this but here's a tracklist!
01. Nightbird Flying (10:39)
02. Dolly Dagger ( 4:54)
03. Freedom ( 9:19)
04. Drifting (41:32)

Now you are the proud owner of the very second ATM disc in the archive of Hendrix bootlegs.
MP3 of course and the real traders would say that is shite and go on about how we are committing some kind of blasphemy or some shit but well...I respect them, of course, if it wasn't for them there would be none of this music but, FLAC isn't a very usable format these days and Hendrix IS a very popular and sought after artist so, people should hear it!
Plus: I don't know about you but my MP3 player doesn't play FLAC files.
Also I encode them at the highest bitrates so that they are at least the BEST MP3!

Sorry no mirrors.. No one requested and it's too much time if it aint required.

Shit. I got a call today from my ISP...the one that is stopping business as it has been bought out by Talktalk. Basically they are giving me a good cheap contract that is amazingly even cheaper than the Talktalk folk get already and includes all daytime telephone use. But!! unlike my present deal, I will be subject to a friggin 40GB limit a month. Does that sound a lot to you??? Believe me it isn't much when you are me!! So I may have to be posting less mirrors in future and only do so if specifically asked for an alternative download source for an album. These bastards do not only count the download they include the upload bandwidth too so either up or down, if you hit 40GB you're a goner.
I hate limits.
Limits on anything just are not my thing.
Hehe.
I'm a product of Western society...I don't need limiting on anything I do damn it.

Jimi Hendrix - Band Of Gypsys Rehearsals -1969- (BAGGYS) [Bootleg (ATM 001)]

Hello Fans. (Joke of course)
Due to the overwhelmingly blinding response to the previous post of the greatest Jimi hendrix bootleg, I mean, I can barely cope with the onslaught of emails, comments and erm, telepathic messages. Oh and prayers, probably. This has led me to the decision that what you want is MORE of these.
I just cannot be arsed to explain it too much but, like I said in the last post (the last post..? Isn't that some trumpet call.?), the ATM sets from the vast - and when I say VAST I mean absolutely Grand Canyon like - collection of unofficial and bootlegged material of the greatest guitarist that ever lived are the best bet for you if you just don't know which bootlegs are good or which ones to get for quality etc. You can be pretty sure that the ATM sets have at least been verified through the years and collected by many who have, many times, found better versions of tracks and shows and re-released a certain disc as an upgrade to a previous one. this happens all the time. these great ATM discs are always being upgraded so they just get better and better. If you heard the Villanova disc, at least the Villanova I, then you'll understand what I mean when I say that. Believe me, there really are so many bootlegs that it can be a hard thing knowing which ones are actually a good listen. NOT all bootlegs are even worth hearing. Fans will record anything don't forget. That's why, in the one I am offering you today there is a track that lasts all of FIVE SECONDS! Hehe. It's called 'Lover Man (False Start)' and doesn't have anything about it that makes you want to hear it again or even notice it has been on. Yet it has stayed in the collection year on year, each fan that has had it has seen fit to keep that five second clip in there.
Now that is dedication.
Or hero-worship.

...Or obsessive compulsive behaviour?

Let me get on to the bootleg I'm giving you today then.
I know absolutely nothing about it and I'm sorry to say that the pain I am in right now is going to stop me going and looking up some info. I just want to hurry with this post and get some rest.
What I will tell you is that it is the very first indexed disc of the ATMs: 001.
Nice eh. It is in New York and I believe was over the course of two nights in December - 18th and 19th. I also am pretty sure it was recorded at The Record Plant, NY'. Correct me if I am wrong.
There is already an upgraded version of this but I do not have it YET. It was released as a totally different ATM number (205-206). This will be on here at some point no doubt. I find no problem with the ATM 001 version and although it isn't like 2007 digital quality, it sounds good and the playing is just class.

ATM 002 will be posted tomorrow
Enjoy!

Jimi Hendrix - At Villanova Junction II Outtakes 1968-70 [Bootleg (ATM 008)]

I bet you thought this would never appear!
Actually, I really didn't plan on leaving such a delay in between the last post and this one but life is such that...
Enough!

Here is part two (or disc two) of the absolutely fuc*in' brilliant and one of my favourites of all time bootleg: Villanova Junction!

Just a note to those who need it:
Notice the title of the bootleg has the (ATM 00x) or ATM index number at the end of it?
Well this is indicating that it is a known and indexed Collectors bootleg disc and as it has the status of Archived Traders Material then it is, according to the word on such things :
The Highest Quality Hendrix-recordings available in Traders' circuits
and he also states: All recordings in the ATM series are taken from the lowest generation masters available, and they have all been digitally restored unless otherwise indicated.

Well, I have a few of these and plan to send some your way soon.

For now, just enjoy the rest of this one...it really is an amazing show and superb quality.
Some of the bootlegs are so horrendously bad in sound quality that I can't listen to them but some are just pure.

Bob Dylan Theme Time Radio Hour Episode 54 (S02E04) 'CALIFORNIA' [HIGH QUALITY MP3]

Luckily, for you at least, I cannot friggin' sleep. Yes let me get the sympathy quota over with by telling you it is solely due to this fucking(sorry kids!) constant pain in the old guts. I decided to stop trying to sleep and do this instead.
~At least the show will be up a bit earlier than last week.
So it is the middle of the night here, very silent and foggy outside, pretty still and weird night.
Well the weeks surely are getting shorter. It's dark so early already these days, I think I must have been asleep during summer because I don't remember any of those lazy summery days kicking back and lapping up the sun.
Crap.
Maybe listening to these California-related songs will transport me into a fake but worthy summery atmosphere?!
Worth a try I suppose.

There's links working already on the Dylan Page but if the mirror links you want are not clickable, it is because they are uploading right now. Just check back to the page every ten mins or so and the newest links will be added as they arrive!
Enjoy!

The theme for this week is California.
You just HAVE TO love that Al Jolson song. It reminds me of my childhood. You just have to love Al Jolson full stop or, 'period'. He rocks!

As for track 5 - Do You Know The Way To San Jose, it is like one of those pet hates I have always had about it. It sucks big time. Can't bloody stand it. Just one of those songs that could turn cheese back into milk.
Or something.
Arrgghh.

Track listing
01 California Here I Come - Al Jolson (1946)
02 California - Joni Mitchell (1971)
03 California Blues - Webb Pierce (1951)
04 Go West - Geraint Watkins (2004)
05 Do You Know The Way To San Jose - Dionne Warwick (1968)
06 Mendocino - Sir Douglas Quintet (1969)

Jimi Hendrix - At Villanova Junction I Outtakes 1968-70 [Bootleg (ATM 007)]

You lot say even less than I do these days.
I wonder if you are just lazy; uninterested; bored; rude, or just yet another victim of the pace we have set for ourselves in this hectic life. Even when we are sitting, doing (virtually) nothing, supposedly relaxing right? Just browsing the net...we are still right in that fast-paced world.
This is my theory at least.
People who come to sites like this one do it like so... they usually check the titles, click the links - if they interest them that is- and then leave pretty soon after that!
I know: I do it a lot at other sites.
I can sit here, relaxing and yet when I think about my mindset after an hour or so, I couldn't be further from the concept of relaxation and don't feel especially calm or de-stressed!
Maybe it is just me.
Naa.
I rarely open Firefox without it having at least about 12 or so open tabbed web pages that I am not quite done with yet. Sometimes I'm going around from one site to another so much that I'm reading about ten articles/forums/news stories/ topics at once. Shit.
Try it. It sure isn't fucking relaxing. :)
It's after I've spent 'just a bit too long' doing that kind of crap that I need to just stop, look around, switch off and...
...you guessed it: Relax.
It sounds a bit mad but, I look around, I read and hear and see in the media and it seems to be the way of the world, the human condition in these frantic-hectic times!
Information! Information!! Information!!!
Give me more!
GIVE MORE!
Get More!!
What are you going to do with it all anyway?

Just leave a damn comment.
That way you at least stopped for a second longer and had a single, grounded, thought process that was all of your own making.

You can enjoy listening to this finest of fine Jimi Hendrix Bootleg albums whilst you do.
This is not yet floating around in the netland yet so consider this exclusivity.
Enjoy.

Jimi Hendrix - Villanova Junction (ATM 007-008 / 12.03.1999 / 2CDR)
(Outtakes 1968-70 incl. Buddy Miles Jam, New York City, NY 14.11.69

1. All Along The Watchtower ( 4:05)
2. Calling All Devil's Children ( 7:41)
3. Country Blues ( 8:31)
4. Astro Man (11:18)
5. Red House ( 7:02)
6. Ships Passing In The Night ( 3:32)
7. Villanova Junction ( 4:08)
8. Hear Ma train A-Comin ( 8:08)
9. Belly Button Window ( 3:54)
10. Three Little Bears - South Saturn Delta (12:50)
11. Stepping Stone ( 1:32)

Fuck me this is one of my all time favourite Hendrix bootlegs. You'll see why if you listen. The version of Astro Man is a trip and a half well worth going on. Makes me want to try smoking weed again just to see what it sounds like then.
Got any?

Hello friends, Romans, Countrymen.
(ahem). Did I say I was back? And erm, did that mean I would update every day?
Oh right.
Hehe. Never assume anything. Like my not assuming I would be able to stay healthy for more than a day or two at a time. Had a f*cking rough few days of it.

OK MUSIC!

I saw this band recently playing on some late night show or other...might have been Jonathan Ross or something like that. anyway the music seemed to be totally at odds with the guys I was looking at on the stage. You basically had three young guys sitting there, looking like they really didn't give a shit for the whole situation, wearing trainers and sportswear...short hair and...well..just like any other young thuggish types you might see on every street corner of England any night of the week.
Hehe Do I sound old??
No surely not!
Yet there they were playing this music that just hit your brain cells right through the front of the skull and rebounded from ear to ear without giving you much of a chance to analyse what was happening: you were already too late for that. You were nodding your head and tapping your feet to the excellent and addictive beat.
Don't believe me?
Try these guys out they are fucking great.
I hear similarities with bands like - the obvious one- Arctic Monkeys- I am Kloot and other northern English bands that I just can't think of right now. Yet the title track REALLY sounds so close to a Paul Weller or The Jam sound that you'd swear it was Weller!
So let me present to you....

The Enemy.

David Gilmour - "A Great Day for Losing It", Paris, 23,01, 2002 [Bootleg Video Rip]

The Latest Dylan Theme Time Radio show is uploading now. Thought I'd throw this one your way whilst I was waiting around. It's bloody early morning and I need something to do :)
What can I really tell you about this.
At this time in the morning not much...heh.(its now 8am...I started writing this almost 2 hrs ago! True!)

I can tell you what tracks he plays.

1. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (1-5)
2. Fat Old Sun
3. Coming Back To Life
4. Dominoes
5. High Hopes
6. Je Croix Entendre Encore
7. Smile
8. Breakthrough
9. Wish You Were Here
10. Comfortably Numb
11. The Dimming Of The Day
12. Shine On You Crazy Diamond (6-9)
13. A Great Day For Freedom
14. Hushabye Mountain

It's brilliant.
You have a very close view on David as he plays and sings in what seems to be quite a small venue. You can't actually see much else, the cameraman is in the front row and the camera is on Gilmour more or less the whole time. Sound and video is amazingly good. This is one of the best video bootlegs I have seen and is pretty unique in that it gives you that 'almost there' feeling.
Very very recommended!
I got this as DVD so encoded it to XviD using Fair Use Wizard on mostly default settings..it isn't packed bitstream or anything (Meaning it will play on your DivX DVD player if you have one!)

The Album! David Gilmour - Live at the Royal Albert Hall [AUDIO RIP] From BBC Sept 8th.

Back again just to drop this album off for you.
I am sure you liked the David Gilmour show from the BBC at the Royal Albert Hall so some kind soul ripped the audio from that broadcast, all digital like, crystal clear, high bitrate encoded and...well...they did a great job.
It means you can now enjoy the concert wherever you are instead of only whilst sitting in front of the box.
Great.

Whilst I am mentioning 'the box', can I just ask...am I alone here in my opinion that TV is just a heap of intolerable shit these days??
Obviously I liked the show I watched on BBC but there is very little EVER on that thing to keep me interested. Personally, I find the net a whole lot more entertaining. I don't just go against the TV like a lot of people are these days saying things like 'you don't get to choose the content' and all that crap, I just think that TV in general, the stupidity of most of the programmes, the weak drama or crime shows, the piles and piles of absolute shallow crud that flows over from USA like some kind of leaking sewer outlet. (Don't get arsey now Americans, I understand you probably have the same kind of shit coming to you from the BBC's deepest depths of shite archives. Believe it or not: Most Britains do not like most British sitcoms.
They suck.
A lot.
One thing I did get into recently, well, quite recently was a couple of US shows...three to be exact.
It all started when I was persuaded to watch '24'. I watched it and, much to my amazement, I liked it. Then began an obsession of waiting, downloading, watching. Every week I would have the show within an hour or so of it's release by EZTV trackers.
Then I heard about LOST. Decided to give it a go as it seemed everyone and his dog watched it.
Damn! I liked that show too. (This was amazing because I have never really liked the typical American drama series...they just edit and film in a way that doesn't appeal to me).
So now I was getting two shows a week...bit torrent, download, watch then wait a week...obsession.
Then I checked out 'Prison Break'...more due to the fact that '24' was finished and I was desperate so I heard that a lot of people were watching that as some kind of substitute!
I kind of liked it so then I started putting that show on the list too.
To get to the end of this ramble....
Finally the new season of Prison Break began last week and I watched the first show.
WHAT A LOAD OF CHILDISH NONSENSE!
This show is a fucking joke. Seriously, if you look at say, episode 101 and then fast forward to now, episode 301 you can see how they have changed a far-fetched, yet in some ways plausible series into what now amounts to no more than a comic book acted out by real people. I was more amused than horrified.
Either way I can't stand the fucking show now.
The thing is, last time I saw '24' I thought they had turned that into a kind of Marvel comic book stlye too.
What the fuck do they think the viewers want?
Or maybe I should be asking..
what do the viewers want?
they seem to lap it up so it is them that has the problem, not the creators.
Just look around the net and you find more glowing and positive 'reviews' of the latest Prison Break than people actually seeing it for what it is:
SHITE.
I hope the creators of LOST haven't 'lost' the plot too.
Now, where was I.

Jimi Hendrix - Away From This Rainy Cloud [1970] [BL]

Hello friends.
Incase anyone is a little bored of David Gilmour...
...tough shit.
Heh!
No really. I would like to help you out. firstly I would question your tastes if you really do have a problem with the great Gilmour, but I suppose taste is subjective and all that so I feel responsible and should provide an alternative for you with bad taste!
However!! The alternative offer is of such good taste that there is a slight chance that you will not even be able to appreciate this either!
Aargh.
I doubt it though. Have a load of this:
Jimi Hendrix - Away From This Rainy Cloud (Merged bootleg from 3 audience recordings, from Sept 6, 1970 during the Love & Peace Festival held on the Isle Of Fehmarn in Germany).
This album is a nice 320K/s bitrate too..Mmm

It is also about the best quality release -yes, let's call it a release- and I am comparing it to ALL, official and bootleg releases when I say this, it has been mixed in a way that brings the instruments out more clearly. believe me some of the other bootlegs of this show are diabolical! Even the official discs suck..the ones I have heard anyway.
Found a little of the Festival appearance on the ol' youtube..check -

You probably want a tracklist too eh?
Oh alright then..

01 Intro
02 Killing Floor
03 Spanish Castle Magic
04 All Along The Watchtower
05 Hey Joe
06 Hey Baby
07 Message To Love
08 Foxy Lady
09 Red House
10 Ezy Rider
11 Freedom
12 Billy Mitch Solo
13 Room Full Of Mirrors
14 Purple Haze
15 Voodoo Child (Slight Return)

So here are the links for you.
The files were split, no not to get bloody rapidshare points but because the file was too big to post on rapidshare as it's over 100Mb so just the split files option for now...
I recommend you don't sleep past this one as it's pretty damn good!
