Bob Dylan Theme Time Radio Hour Episode 59 (S02E09) 'DREAMS' [HIGH QUALITY MP3]

You would just NOT believe me if I attempted top tell you what happened this past week as regards to computer(s) and internet access etc.
Just take it from me:
A totally shambolic affair!.

Another show!

The links for the latest show are working already on the Dylan Page but if you are a regular user of the mirrored links at other servers then I think I can safely say that if you wait about a few hours after the time of this posting, then BerGmeister our resident mirror helper...or Loopyjoe, will have sorted a megaupload mirror and a single MP3 link too for you.

The theme for this week is Dreams.

Dreams.
Weird things, dreams aren't they.
Isn't it just soooo boring when someone wakes up and then proceeds to tell you in great detail every single remembered scene of a dream they just had?
It invariably amounts to nothing but a journey of surreal confusion and nonsensical crap but, in their mind at least, for that short time after waking, it makes a lot of sense.
Even if it doesn't make any sense to them either, they still feel the need to tell you all about it.
Groan.
I do it too.
Hehe.
For instance, I had a dream the other day right...
CUT!

Enjoy the show :)

Track listing
01 Darn That Dream - Dinah Washington
02 All I Have To Do Is Dream - The Everly Brothers
03 The Boulevard of Broken Dreams - Tony Bennett
04 I've Got Dreams To Remember - Otis Redding
05 In Dreams - Roy Orbison
06 Weird Nightmare - Charles Mingus
07 Sh-Boom - The Chords
08 When I Stop Dreaming - The Louvin Brothers

Lucky Dube - Prisoner [1989] & Lucky Dube - House of Exile [1991]

Hello freaks.
You may not know or care but a reggae artist by name of Lucky Dube was murdered this month. Well last month it was, 18th October. I only found out via a magazine I get delivered so I'm behind the rest of the world..
I know.
Murder.
It goes on.
Life hurts etc etc.
Still I would like to let you hear some of his stuff in a show of respect.
You can learn a bit about the guy on wikipedia.
I just learned he was South Africa's Biggest Selling reggae star.
I don't know the politics in South Africa any more than in Zimbabwe or anywhere else. That is, a little but not much. I knew he did a lot for the whole South African Apartheid situation by which I mean he spoke out against it, got his music out there and even had his music banned but didn't stop singing about the problems and pushing the issue. That's what makes him a cut above in the same way Bob Marley used to bring issues to the masses, Lucky Dube did this in South Africa. You may not have heard of him but he left his mark.
He was killed by car-jackers. In front of his kids too. Animals.
How fucking dignifying.
I hope I meet my end in a slightly more glamourous way.
I don't know...orgasm related heart attack maybe?

The 'Prisoner' album is only 128K but it sounds fine, trust me. the other is high quality.

Ocean Colour Scene -- The Collection [2007]

Hello friends, countrymen...and others.
Ocean colour scene.
I used to call them 'Oasis with talent' and that description seems fitting even now!
Imagine if you took The Kinks, Oasis, some of the later Beatles tracks, a little sprinkling of various seventies Progressive rock, maybe a smattering of Pink Floyd and some Steelydan. What the hell would that concoction make?
I'm not too sure but it would bring you a whole lot closer to the sound of the inimitable, Ocean Colour Scene.
This is a 'collection / compilation of their best' album and is great.
Pretty good tracklist with all the tracks that made them so well known...
1. Sway
2. Giving It All Away
3. Do Yourself A Favour
4. Riverboat Song
5. You've Got It Bad
6. Day We Caught The Train
7. Circle
8. Day Tripper
9. Hundred Mile High City
10. Chicken Bones And Stones
11. Traveller's Tune
12. Soul Driver
13. Best Bet On Chinaski
14. Best Friends And Lovers
15. Foxy's Folk Faced
16. I Wanna Stay Alive With You
17. Robin Hood
18. Jane She Got Excavated

Bob Dylan Theme Time Radio Hour Episode 58 (S02E08) 'SMOKING' [HIGH QUALITY MP3]

Hello fans.
Another day, another lateness excuse.

Another show!

The links for the latest show are working already on the Dylan Page but if you are a regular user of the mirrored links at other servers then, sorry to inform you but I have decided not to upload to mirrors this week to see how it goes. Still I would ask that anyone with bandwidth to spare uploads the files as a mirror for others. One plain extracted MP3 file and one rar as they are provided is what people seem to like.

The theme for this week is Smoking.
Reminds me of a promise I made to my son that I would give up smoking by christmas! Have to do it one day so I am kind of looking forward to it.
Filthy, filthy habit.
I am so thankful to the British government for taking the choice away from people and forcing every citizen to be a non smoker in public. Especially good of them to make it totally illegal even for a restaurant or bar owner who wishes to have a 'smoking allowed' premises, where the staff are aware and accept the dangers, the clientèle are also obviously smokers and accept their risks too, the owners would even plan to have a very efficient airflow and extraction system. The last part is a little irrelevant but it just shows that they might like to minimise any risks to their staff.
I am just So glad that those places are illegal. Completely removing the choice of people to do themselves harm if they wish is such a great part of our good old British society these days.
I just love it.
Tell you what, even when I no longer smoke I will still have the same opinion.
I don't smoke weed but if there were places where consenting adults went to do so then I wouldn't want to have laws forcing them not to just because THEY were at risk of hurting THEMSELVES. (If they were smoking it and then committing crimes, or affecting others in any detrimental way then yes, there would be a case). The scenario I just described with a smoking bar or restaurant would NOT be hurting anyone except those consenting to the risks so fuck the nanny state.
It makes me more sick than the stink of stale smokers' breath.
Enjoy the show :)

Track listing
01 Smoke! Smoke! Smoke! That Cigarette - Tex Williams & His Western Caravan
02 Lipstick Traces On A Cigarette - The O'Jays
03 Dim Lights, Thick Smoke And Loud Loud Music - Joe Maphis & Rose Lee
04 Reefer Man - Baron Lee
05 The Weed - Steve Purdy & The Studs
06 More Cigarettes - The Replacements
07 Smoking Woman On The Street - Reverand J.M. Gates
08 Smoke Rings - Sam Cooke
09 Chew Tobacco Rag - Billy Brigs
10 Nicotine - Paul Chaplain & The Emeralds
11 Smokin' In The Boys Room - Brownsville Station
12 Cigareets, Whuskey And Wild, Wild Women - Red Ingle & The Natural Seven
13 Cigarette - The Visions
14 Tobacco Road - John D. Loudermilk

Jimi Hendrix - New York Pop '70 [Bootleg (ATM 010)]

Hello again.
Well I must thank a couple of users here, the two kind souls who offered to upload the Dylan Radio shows to mirror the links for everyone else who cannot use the rapidshare links.
These are the now infamous (if you ever read comments or the shoutbox over there) Loopyjoe and another helpful guy who provided this last episodes mirrors goes by the name BergMeisteR (see the shoutbox too).
So THANK YOU both. :)

Now other matters. My line speed with this new ISP is amazing.
It started off connecting at 5.5Mbps.
the next day it connected at 5.1Mbps.
Then 5.0Mbps.
Now I log on and it says bloody 4.9Mbps.
At this rate I'll be using an old 33K modem for a faster connection by the end of the month!
I really do not take to having a limit put on me so am definitely looking for a different ISP. I have 30 days from when I joined this one, to end the trial and go elsewhere so I am determined to do just that.

OK I suppose you only came here to see if music is ever still posted right?
(I was wondering the same myself)
I know I have been Hendrix obsessed for a while now, i apologise, it isn't a phase though, I am kind of obsessed anyway and have been for years!
Yet I am now thinking that's no excuse for only giving you Hendrix all the time. I know I could always turn it into a Hendrix blog but that isn't what it started as and I won't do that.
I think it's time to return to what the site used to be about: Posting music of all genres, styles, music I love, hate or am indifferent to just because it enhances our tastes and broadens the musical spectrum we have.
Well that was my theory anyway. And it seemed to go down well!

It's been a while since I posted any of those 'Putumayo' collection albums...or any weird or strange folk or 'ethnic' music. I like that kind of shit so I will be uploading some next OK.
(watch out! hehe)

for now though it is another Hendrix ATM.
Not only because i already uploaded these a while back either!

* * * * * *

ATM 010 - Jimi Hendrix - New York Pop '70
Some mere info copied and pasted for your perusal..
(New York Pop, Downing Stadium, Randall's Island, New York City, NY 17.07.70 [Complete Show]; 57:49) Sbd; Low Gen except Concert Intro & "All Along the Watchtower" (11): Aud; No Gen info / "Red House" (72) is remixed from "The Jimi Hendrix Concerts"
And here is the tracklist
01. Band Intro -Stone Free (6:04)
02. Fire (4:24)
03. Red House (8:04)
04. Message to Love (5:31)
05. Lover Man (2:50)
06. All Along The Watchtower (4:28)
07. Foxy Lady (5:23)
08. Ezy Rider (4:25)
09. Star Spangled Banner (3:01)
10. Purple Haze (3:46)
11. Voodoo Child (Slight Return) (7:15)
12. Stage Announcements (2:19)
Duration : 57:36

Nice sound, quality is great. Even the track 11 that is an audience recording sounds amazingly clear. Must've been some tape recorder for the time!
I really love this one as it gives a good feeling of being there. Recommended. (Yes I know I WOULD say that!)
And that's about it for today.
Unfortunately this is the last of the ATM sets I was intelligent enough to upload BEFORE the current ISP crisis. So may not be one next week!
I am still committed to sharing the whole set though!
Enjoy this one won't you. It's damn good but I would say that right.
NOTE: I seem to have messed up on my mp3 tagging..I have put ATM 009 in this instead of 010.
Dammit.
I just have to say one more thing: I wish I'd been around at the time of creating the covers for all these bootlegs because they really are shit!! I am not taking the blame for the poor cover 'art' so don't blame me if you think it sucks too, I suppose it was done in the days of windows 3.1 and strange desktop graphics apps with only two functions or something.
I really should take the time to create my own new covers for them. I might just do that with the next ATM I upload..see if anyone cares!

Talk Talk...Talk too much

aHello again.
Internet access.
It sucks.
I had no access for a few days there...wow, quite weird it was too!
There is bad news on the horizon. In fact, it isn't on the horizon, it's right here and now:
I am now on a friggin' 40GB per month limit.
That is, I am allowed to use 40GB of bandwidth a month, upload and download combined.
That might seem like a lot to some of you?
To others it might seem impossibly small.
To me it seems impossibly small but ONLY if I were to keep using the broadband bandwidth as much as I have previously. I have always had the torrent program going. I mean always.
24 hours a day.
One or two reboots of the PC a week and that's it.
Bandwidth always being used to the maximum. There have been no limits at all on my broadband package but, the company that I loved so much, that provided such great service,is, no longer and so I went to the company that bought it out: Talk Talk.
Unfortunately I should have thought about this decision a lot more than I did.
I am now in an 18-month contract with what seems to be a great deal with free telephone calls anytime of the day, line rental inclusive, web-space and a five email addresses and broadband all for the lowly price of £20 per month.
That really is some deal.
Except for the fact that in one day I can easily use 5GB or more.
The other thing is that I have now had the speed increased from 2Mbit to 6.5Mbit. So if I was to have torrents etc going I would be capable of far too much bandwidth use!
Even for me!
I am a bit pissed off that I can't keep uploading to keep my ratios good on a few torrent sites I am a member of: I didn't have perfect ratios before this and now I won't be able to fix them. Oh well. I'll get over it. Might get banned.
The other thing is I will have to stop downloading Bob Dylan bootlegs and Hendrix bootlegs in FLAC and DVD for a while.
That sucks.
So let me get to the end of this post here...

I NEED SOMEONE TO HELP OUT ON THE BOB DYLAN SHOWS PLEASE!
PLEASE?
All I am asking is for someone who doesn't have shit bandwidth limits, to download the show every week when I post it, then reupload it to megaupload or somewhere, then email the links to me and I can then carry on providing alternative links/mirrors.
Starting from this week I am posting only the one link for the show and that is at rapidshare which I know will be bad for some people.
Let me speak to these talk talk twats and find out the precise details of the limits and when they start from each month etc, then I'll probably come back and do a mirror link this week but I NEED HELP from one of YOU.
Let me know will you?
Feel free to grab this weeks show and go mirror it for everyone here who can't download from rapidshare..then post me the link at my email...
hitmewithit@gmail.com

Thank you..
I am already looking into different broadband providers as I have 30 days of this as a trial.
It will be a trial too.

Bob Dylan Theme Time Radio Hour Episode 57 (S02E07) 'HEAD TO TOE' [HIGH QUALITY MP3]

Hello folks...bad news this week regarding my internet access shit. Read the post on the main page for details - no point repeating it all here.
The links for the latest show are working already on the Dylan Page but if you are a regular user of the mirrored links at other servers then, sorry to inform you but I have decided not to upload to mirrors this week to see how it goes.
***HELP NEEDED - APPLY WITHIN***
If you are on an unlimited broadband package YOU could help a load of bob dylan fans!
Download the show and reupload it to megaupload or somewhere and then email me the links and I will post the mirrors for everyone else!

The theme for this week is Head to toe.
(It hasn't escaped me that there might be a little debate about what to number this show as, and all shows from here on. As last weeks was a repeat, I have skipped it in the numbering and so have many others I noticed. So while it is named as show 57, there have been 58 shows indexed, if you see what I mean. Who cares, this is the 57th NEW show right)?

Track listing
01 From Head To Toe - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles
02 Dry Bones - The Delta Rhythm Boys
03 I've Got You Under My Skin - Louis Prima
04 Fist City - Loretta Lynn
05 Down On Bended Knee - Johnny Copeland
06 Ten Tiny Toes, One Baby Nose - Sol Hoopii
07 Finger Poppin' Time - Hank Ballard & The Midniters
08 Roll In My Sweet Baby's Arms - The Monroe Brothers
09 Big Legs - Gene Phillips
10 Moulty - The Barbarians
11 She's Scattered Everywhere - Archibald
12 Brain Cloudy Blues - Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys
13 Waist Deep in The Big Muddy - Pete Seeger
14 With Our Arms Outstretched - Rilo Kiley

Bob Dylan Theme Time Radio Hour Episode - NO EPISODE FOR HALLOWEEN! ! Just a repeat of last years.

Hello again.
I am gutted to learn that there is no theme time Radio hour this week and instead, the radio station is putting out(or has put out) a repeat of the Halloween show Bob did last year.
That sucks!
I know - everyone deserves a holiday and all that. I don't grudge him that but he could have recorded it in advance or something...grooaan.
So no point in me uploading the same show again right?
If you want a slice of Halloween Bob, which was a good show anyway, then go and download it - Links below to a rar file and a single MP3 as well. Both high quality.
I wanted a new one!

Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys: Lonely Avenue (Rainy Day Discs) [Bootleg (ATM 009)]

Looking for theme Time Radio Hour?
Me too. I'll look into it.

OK. for those of you who missed it(or haven't scrolled down if it is still on the front page?) the next in the sequence of ATM Hendrix posts should be numbers 007 and 008. however, I jumped the gun a bit and have posted these two already so just click these to go download both of those sets if you haven't already. they really are good ones. It's the 'Villanova Junction' ones(Woodstock I believe)..here,
Hendrix ATM 007
Hendrix ATM 008

Hendrix ATM 009 - Band of Gypsys: Lonely Avenue (1969-70)
Today brings us to another great 'Band Of Gypsys' time in Hendrix's career. A Jamming session with buddy Miles makes up the most of this album, I only have the little bit of info I can find so feel free to enlighten me. Here is the text I got:
'Band of Gypsys: Lonely Avenue (Rainy Day Discs / ATM 009 / 12.03.1999 / 1CDR)
(Outtakes 1969-70 incl. Buddy Miles Jam, New York City, NY 07.11.69 & 14.11.69 [Complete]) Mostly 1st & 2nd Gen'

And the tracks are as follows...
Instrumental Jam (JS21) - Buddy Miles Jam, New York City, NY 14.11.69
Instrumental Jam (JS22) - Buddy Miles Jam, New York City, NY 14.11.69
Instrumental Jam (JS23) - Buddy Miles Jam, New York City, NY 07.11.69
Honeybed (1-4) Session - Outtakes 23.09.69
Ezy Rider Jam > MLK Jam > Cherokee Mist - Outtakes 23.01.70

The back cover gives a bit more info:

All in all it's a great session. Very bluesy but you can feel that psychedelic edge to things...lots of layering of the music, building up and building up then breaking to a mellow spot, just enough to slow you down, lull you into a false sense of security and then WHAM- some full on rock! ... and so it goes. The drums are pretty good in this too and very clear.
The obvious change in style that you get to know when you hear anything from Band Of Gypsys is easy to spot on this. Great set.
Sound quality really is great.
Another gem!
Enjoy.
