Hiya all, 'This here,

Firstly, to those cnuts who were whinging about the lack of posts: bollox!
Some folk have a life that does not entirely revolve around these 'puters and that interweb thingie, ok?

Peter “Stepping Razor\ Red X” Tosh has always been my favourite Wailer, a real peoples hero, straight from the streets of Kingston, Jamaica (his 1st nickname refers to his favourite weapon).
This is taken from a radio broadcast in Chicago, 1977 as he promoted his “Equal Rights” album. Just the man and his guitar, and plenty of spliff..

[1994] Noordkaap - Gigant

What can I say about Noordkaap ? “The best dutch-singing rock band that was around in Belgium during the nineties.”

If you like solid rock and passionate pop, you will appreciate Noordkaap. Even though you’ll probably not understand the dutch lyrics, you will most probably love the music.

And if you don’t like the music, send me a mail. Else, write a comment. Anyway, nobody is interested in your opinion if you don’t like the music…

Cheers !

[2003] Les Nubians - One Step Forward

I finally filled a REQUEST!!
Although the album was provided by one of the others..can't remember who though but thanks anyway.

Some French, some English, some hip-hop, some soul, some african style..altogether a fucking good album covering a few styles even possibly inventing a few more.
A hard band to pigeon-hole without a doubt.
Definitely worth a listen.

Thats it..no time.

Vendetta Red - Sisters Of The Red Death

This has been called 'the most brilliant piece of art from this band so far', and conversely, ‘a radio-friendly wimp-out'. Slickly produced, with a macabre plot to the story contained in the lyrics, it was for me surprisingly enjoyable.

Hendrix - STAGES 1&2 Paris & Stockholm

OK, ok!
Flog me with a knotted rope. Made of pleated razor-wire. Twice.
I am bad. I am lazy. I am not worthy of the term 'blogger'. Kill me.
Erm no, actually I may be lazy but the reasons for the lack of updates around here are nothing to do with laziness and all to do with bad health.
I was rather hoping the new recruits (of which there is now another come to the fold) would have posted a little something by now.
Alas. I'm sure they'll get something up soon.

So my friends, I bring you a quick post, just something I highly recommend and love. Just to tide you over until I get my finger out so to speak.
Illness is difficult right now and I do try I really do.(!)

There is a collection of Hendrix concerts from 1967,68,69,70 which contains 4 live sets(one from each year) and is called STAGES.
I am posting the first two of these for you today.
I hope you enjoy them.
Just sit back or jump in the car or have a smoke, drink, line or coffee..or just get your damn housework done to these crystalline tunes!
Unbeatable? Maybe. Hendrix always was in a class of his own.
Enjoy.
More from me soon if these damn painkillers work.
If they don't then I will post something even if it's just a suicide note....
(Yes that was sarcasm).

A Turning Point

Today marks a new point in time for the site.
You might notice at the right there the names of the members of the site.
Yep: There are two more HitMe's here to fuel your love/hatred/angst/passion/imbecilic misfortune..excesses of plebitude..heightened awareness of all things uninteresting..etc etc. against and not just me.

Please welcome them both!

They will no doubt excel at posting all your most wanted mixtures and tastes of music. I selected from the most stringently surveyed lists, the two most dedicated and hard-working individuals. Believe me the selection process was mean.
These two made it through to the final stage.
They deserve your honour.

Music?
Sorry but the music isn't here yet.
It will come.

My new PC is now working!
I can't resist posting photos of it even with the cheap case i got for it. Will do some later!

Anyway..all you care about is a free album or two so I will go now and shut the fuck up.
Must go anyway as I have a constant task of uploading albums to do..all day..all night..can't stop..

Alpha Blondy - Masada ||| Alpha Blondy - Apartheid is Nazism

Still unable to write much.
Built the PC of my dreams and its up and running. Not a problem! Well, apart from some extremely boring stuff that WAS a problem(until I fixed it - genius!) ..

Hosted by Putfile.com

So here are a couple of albums from an artist I love to hear. His voice is crisp and cool.
I was sitting in a hospital bed. Facing a nine hour operation. I was a bit panicked by the prospect of the intense pain I was guaranteed to wake up to so I went to the hospital library and amazingly, they had some great cassettes there to take back to your ward. I saw Alpha Blondy, never heard of him but there were cannabis leaves on the cover or some other reference to rasta lifestyle so I took a chance. (!)
I was so glad I did. He really lifted my moods on those days after surgery when life seems like a distant dream and youy feel like an empty shell.....(if you've been there, you'll understand!) .

I can't stay to write about these albums but must say a huge thanks to Zephyr who tagged, named and uploaded these to RS for us all!
THANKS MATE!

Just a few things here at home to iron out before things get a bit faster around here folks.
Although the new PC is running, I now have to juggle the Drives from this old thing, to the new one, with my new drives in there too...I want to have it with this old OS on there too so that I can choose to bootup into win98 (with all the old settings and programs I have here on this) sometimes and XP,SP2 the rest of the time. It isn't difficult but I am just short on time and energy....
Remember - COMMENTS are appreciated.
Did you like this ALPHA BLONDY?
Any more obscure reggae you think I / WE might be interested in hearing? Make a suggestion then!
Ciao!

Arcade Fire - Funeral [2004]

As you might have noticed, this site isn't being updated as much or as well as it was.
Just bear with me: Some problems and things that are beyond my control are going on right now. You can be assured though that whenever possible, I WILL be uploading and updating this place. I like it here and don't want it to go downhill..well not too much!
So as usual this is hurried. No time for that blinding wit and biting sarcasm today(unless that was some of it?), just an album that I wish for you to hear and I imagine you haven't.
This was sent to me by a site visitor(isn't there a better sounding title for them than that?), with a recommendation that encouraged me to have a listen with full expectations of it being superb.
Well, let me start by saying I don't put it into the 'superb' category. Have I ever told you exactly what albums/ music I DO put into that category? I'll keep you guessing on that for now.
I do however recognise that this band is talented and they play a tight tune. When they play, they do it well. I just don't have much of an interest in the genre or style of tracks I hear on this one. It is reminiscent of the franz Ferdinand wave that seems to be seeping into so many bands these days..now, I am not saying that Arcade Fire are listening to Franz Ferdinand and they get their sound from it, I think it more a case of the two bands have taken influences from a similar place.
I have a problem though, when I listen to this album it reminds me of something I have heard in the past. Maybe from the 80's, I'm not sure. Like when you know a word is in your head but the memory is so mixed up that you just can't quite put your finger on the word or in this case, name of the band, you are trying to remember!
There is more than a hint of Talking Heads in there as they do a lot of the 'Thumping-beat driven, electric guitar - wall of noise' kind of stuff but to be honest, it isn't Talking Heads that I'm trying to remember!
Have a listen and let me know if they remind you of some older band...who the hell is it?!
Answers on a postcard. Prize for the first correct entry pulled out of my pants.
Anyway..much to my surprise and a pleasant surprise at that, there are some beautiful, slow and acoustic tracks on this album. As soon as they come on the mood changes along with my opinion of them.
Now I like them.
They tell a story in one of these songs and lyrically it is beautiful too.
Brilliant.
So after hearing it I put it on again.
And again.
And again.
For three days I have listened to this and my womanfriend is getting a little more than tired of it!
The verdict?
They have grown on me more than I thought they might.
This is a great(not superb mind) album and I urge you to take it now -while it's here.

Bob Marley and the Wailers - Live 1975 & 1973 ||| Babyface - For The Cool In You

I am struggling but managed to at least give you a post to tide you over...bear with me my friends. Lots of good things to come. PC changeover - When I have built the new one that is!
I know it is kind of cheating but I found these links and got them myself last week so you might enjoy them too...
Bob Marley. Timeless. The guy had a lot of wisdom. His music wasn't too bad either.

Bob Marley and the Wailers

1. Slave Driver
2. Trenchtown Rock
3. Concrete Jungle
4. Midnight Ravers
5. Talkin' Blues
6. Rebel Music
7. I Shot The Sheriff
8. Natty Dread

Here is an album from some rancid dick called..
BabyFace.
They call this R&B.
R & B??!!!!
Can someone help me out here right. I always thought that R&B was rhythm and Blues? sometime, in the early MTV years as I remember, an influx of slow, harking back to motown, predominantly black, insipid & plodding music calling itself R&B was fast becoming a force to be reckoned with.
Obviously it no longer means Rhythm and Blues so please educate me here.
I could probably think of a few to fill in the blanks like 'Rancid & Boring' for one without even thinking about it.
Well as I musyt stick to the 'music of all styles' motto of this site, I will help out the unfortunate among you that actually wish to accuire such trash as the great sir Babyface.

Here is his album - For The Cool In You
01-For The Cool In You.mp3
02-Lady, Lady.mp3
03-Never Keeping Secrets.mp3
04-Rock Bottom.mp3
05-And Our Feelings.mp3

07-When Can I See You.mp3
08-Illusions.mp3
09-A Bit Old-fashioned.mp3
10-You Are So Beautiful.mp3
11-I'll Always Love You.mp3
12-Well Aright.mp3

Enjoy. I did.
Just to let those of you who aren't so clued up on these sort of things..you can browse through both of the sites that these are linking to, download some more if you like. The Bob Marley can be quite a slow server but stick with it...use a download manager and the files download eventually. It is just very busy I guess.
Go here and see all the shows available:
http://mp3.tyedye.com/bob_marley/

It pains me to say this but, there is another 'BabyFace' album up for grabs along with a meagre collection of some of the worst music it has ever been my misfortune to hear..or even hear about!
Get it here:
http://12.222.33.160/myweb/mp3/english/
Check out the Chinese Classical music. Must be better than so-called R&B crap!
Normality will return in good time. When it does, things will move a lot faster around here..

Wim Mertens - Shot & Echo CD2 [A Sense Of Place]

Chaos. Help out.

Fear not, the site is NOT going by the wayside. Things will pick up VERY SOON. The new PC parts arrive in the next hour and this old thing has had it. Luckily I got online and will be giving you the second CD from Wim Mertens 'Shot & Echo' entitled 'A Sense Of Place' for those that downloaded the first disc. For those that didn't..why the hell not?
Also have you spotted the DEADLINK REPORT button at the foot of every post?
PLEASE use this when you find a non working link, to email me directly and make sure you fill in the details of the links that are dead by copying and pasting them. When you click the buton it will open your default email program ok.

I will try to upload another album today but it is not easy when the PC keeps crashing..

The earthquake is horrific. I am stunned. There are a lot of natural disasters happening around the world..
I'm going to give something to help. Not something I do: charity. This time it is justified. Why not do the same yourself...just this once, make a small payment to help those people out. They were just on the news saying they need simple tents. The monsoon rains are the next thing to cope with and being homeless and not able to get out of the rain is going to make it so much worse. Plus the price of a tent there is peanuts to you and I.

JEAN SIBELIUS - Finlandia and musings on a Home Build PC

Just the one classical track that was requested today.
Reason for no real update today has been a mixture of two things. Dire PC problems which have taken hours of irritation and time to fix..for now...
Plus: Is it just me or have you had trouble accessing rapidshare today? Yesterday too it seems. The site wasn't just playing up it was returning a not found ot temporarily 404 error every time I tried to go to upload to it.
Couldn't download from there either so I think it must have been down completely. Maybe maintenence or something.
I finally decided that my dream of building my first PC is to be a reality. I have been choosing all the parts and finally confirmed the order today. Great!!
This machine is an old work-horse and crashes far too often. Mind you, I really put it through the mill. It is definitely overworked and in memory terms...understaffed.
Processor is only a 400 celeron and it has 256k Ram.
No good for my needs.
So I had the old 'should I go AMD or Intel' dilemma.
I decided after far too much procrastination that I would go with a Pentium 4, 3.0Ghz and also 1Gig DDR Ram.
AMD are more efficient and good for gaming and fast processing work. I don't need that as I only ever play those small gmaes, the like of which you get from reflexive.net or gamehouse.com.
I couldn't help getting a fancy modded Case with some neon type green glowing lights and a cut away in the side...They've changed since the beige crap I have in front of me right now..hehe.
With all of this already it is sounding great!
I went for Intel because they are known to be better with multitasking and are good general workhorses.
Sorry for rambling on but I am pretty damn excited at the prospect of a powerful PC as I have had this one for about 5 years and before that...a 166Mhz Pentium! with 32Mb Ram!
I even used to watch movies on that one too after a lot of bios and system tweaks. Nothing I love more than learning and being able to manipulate the PC.
Ok I will let you go now.
Promises for tomorrow are....
The Music of Islam, next two CDs.
And something else of which I aint decided yet!
So no one liked the Wim Mertens then?

Wim Mertens - Shot & Echo CD1 [2004]

Frida Kahlo ...amazing artist. Click for more of her work.

Someone requested this and then another visitor sent it to me. Unfortunately we only have CD1 and this is a double CD release. I have tried to find it but haven't managed it YET. If you have it let me know of course and I will put it up here!
Click for more about the artist, Raoul Hausmann..
What a difficult CD to talk about! I will start by saying I didn't know what to put in the 'Genre' section of the tags..so I left it blank. The music, when you hear it, will explain this. It is classical but some of it is quite bizarre and reminds me of some kind of camp/theatrical sideshow music. It is dark and melancholy in places and other pieces have a jollity about them that borders on the irritating. The music is very heavily layered with trumpets and Double Bass and lots of great piano. You can hear everything from Saxaphone to clarinet and more I am sure.
Do I like it? It is hard to say.
It is fascinatingly different and interesting with all the arrangements and soundscapes they produce. Some of it is the most peaceful and relaxing music I have heard ... yes, I do like it!
I don't think it is an album I will be playing very often yet I do like some of the tracks...a lot.
There is one track for instance: '03 - Watch Over Me' and it has a repetitive background of trumpets and possibly clarinets(not too sure) then it builds on that by layering piano and more instruments until it has become much more than the sum of its parts and you now find it has taken over your brain! It's a stunning piece of music without a doubt. There are some more on this that are just as good too.
I have a feeling this will be a 'grower'.
See what you think.
Oh and the first couple of tracks did put me off, it was only the next few that made me sit up and take notice so don't ditch it after hearing tracks 1 and 2 will you!

I just decided on the Genre: Contemporary Classic.

[Mussorgsky] Pictures At An Exhibition - Abbado Berlin Philharmonic

Click here to go to the artists site. Great work to be seen!
Most of you..well, most of you that are ageing hippys or like myself used to be a wannabe hippy, will know of this piece of music thanks to the great Emerson Lake and Palmer version or some say corruption of it in 1974.
Yes it is classical music.
Yes I decided to post it as you well know, there are many types of music and they are not all indie and not all circa 2004-2005!
I'm very low on facts regarding classical so I'll let the music speak for itself.
I like listening to this when the mood takes me.
I hope you enjoy it too.

Son House - The Original Delta Blues ||| Kasabian - Kasabian

Ok today we have some music. I went to the Dr and had my anti-psychotic injections and I feel fine now.

Son House. Wish I could have played the old guitar with this guy.

I don't know how many of you watched a programme on BBC -I think it was a couple of nights ago- about 'The Blues'. It was a 2 hour dip into the history of the real old Delta blues, the main figures and the people that virtually invented the blues sound. The presenter travelled all over the US, met some real characters along the way..at one point he was sitting outside a small shack in mississippi with an old guy who was the last known pipe player, he played a hollowed bamboo or reed pipe in the blues style, something amazing to hear and something I have never seen or heard before. It was stunning.
He also went to Africa as his journey through the history of the blues traced it back to Mali, where the whites took blacks as slaves and their music went with them. The mixture of music and culture was all thrown together; The blacks were denied of their culture; All were given new names and not able to continue in the ways they knew but they kept the rhythm inside and through following the same journey as the presenter on this programme, you realise that that same rhythm is what gives us that Blues sound that penetrates almost every musical style today.
If I can find the show anywhere online I will be posting it here for sure. It is compulsory viewing for any music lover.
The show introduced me to so many Delta Bluesmen that when it ended I went online(for a change) and searched out this gem of an album.
Son House (Eddie James "Son" House, Jr.)was one of the originals, playing from around 1926 in Mississippi, he had his own guitar strrumming style (great slide too) which you will hear on this album and a soulful, melancholy pure blues voice. He lived the blues he didn't just sing it. He believed that to be able to sing it you had to have experienced the blues side of life, experienced the things you sing about. Most of his songs tell of broken love...nothing changes. The remarkable part of his story is that, in 1942, he moved with a woman to New York and stopped his music, working for New York Central Railroad.
He was no more travelling and playing. He said he felt like he should stop: Some of the others he had grown up around had died for various reasons or another and he said he thought he might be next, so he stopped playing. (Bearing in mind that he came from a preaching family and was supposed to be destined to become a preacher himself, you can understand this way of thinking as to be playing the blues was to be playing 'the devils music' according to his familys ways and the thinking in those parts at that time). Anyway, during the Blues revival times of the 1960's researchers tracked him down and in 1964 they had convinced him to play again. If it wasn't for this he might never have played or been known of again. On the TV programme he was being interviewed and you could feel the pure joy in his heart at the fact he was playing and singing again. He released some of his best stuff after that! What a story.

This album is a compilation which I suppose is good as an introduction to Son House as it has the most talked of tracks on there. I love the 'Preachin' Blues' track. This guy rocks.

I won't be slagging them off. Nope. I actually like these unoriginal Scottish-yet-with-Manchester-Accents(!?) 90's manchester sound rip-off artists. I liked the original bands first time around so it sounds kind of familiar. Heh.

Dare I even consider the prospect of you leaving a comment..Hmm best not to.
My psycho Dr told me to avoid the word comment. Shit.. too late!

Update tomorrow... Nothing today

And anyway...I am starting to dislike the people who come here, save a few good souls that know who they are :)
There is a serious feeling of selfishness and plain bad manners around here you fucks!
I ask for some feedback and I don't get it. that's ok, I mean I'm not your Mum or anything but fucking hell if you want me to even stay interested in doing this...which is YOUR free music resource NOT MINE - I can get it ALL whenever I want. You must be getting somethimng from here the 1000+ people a day...so why is it so difficult to even say Hi?
You make me think the world is full of 'care about myself and fuck everyone else' losers...which I suspected anyway..now you are confirming it.
It might not be relevant but in the stats it tells me that the majority of you are from..USA.
Also for a comparison..nearly all of the comments and genuinely friendly and cool emails from great people are from....
Europe. France, Germany, Denmark!
And a small number from UK.
I wont list EVERY damn country but the USA takes up most of the pie.
(as usual eh?!!)
Hmm is it relevant?

I don't want this place to be like a fucking regnyouth style load the page up, snag the links, close the page. I like a bit of debate and would appreciate at least hearing your views on the music!?
Not too much to ask is it.
Anyway do what you like...I'm off for now.

Maybe Oliver can do it full-time!
