The BBC broadcast of a cut-down a 60 minute version of David Gilmour's
forthcoming DVD 'Remember That Night'.
It was broadcast on BBC1 in the UK on Saturday 8th September at 11pm.

The concert was recorded last year at London's Royal Albert Hall on
May 29, 30 and 31, 2006.
Gilmour is joined on stage by Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright,
Pink Floyd's Dick Parry on sax, Phil Manzanera from Roxy Music,
Pink Floyd contributors Guy Pratt and Jon Carin, drummer Steve Distanislao
And Robert Wyatt.
Special guests are David Crosby and Graham Nash, as well as David Bowie.

In my humblest of opinions, this is some of the greatest David Gilmour
You have ever witnessed. Crosby & Nash are absolutely mind-blowing with their
Backup vocals and harmonies.
David Gilmours voice is in top form, the guitar playing, as usual, is so special.
This is one to go out and buy. The new DVD is released and available on
Amazon dot com or dot co dot uk!!
Pretty cheap too and you get LOADS of footage and extras...

...Two discs and 5 hours worth!

Ok so you get the general Idea now right?

The file is 500Mb and Rapidshare only allows 100Mb sized files so it is split into ... you guessed it-Six parts (the last part is about 10Mb).

Cedella Booker Marley - Awake Zion (1991)

Back again before I sleep. I just thought that, even though the day has been spent fixing many Theme Time Radio links I need to put an album up for you so it's a nice one too. One I was listening to a few times this afternoon.
Cedella Booker Marley - Awake Zion (1991)
Now, when I was a bit younger I used to see the name 'Marley' and assume it would be great...you know how it was - loads of grass or hash, reggae or pink floyd was the staple, anything goes and everything bob Marley was cool.
I like to think I have matured these days.
Slightly.
I think.
Well, maybe not.
I was a bit more wary when I got this album and so I listened to it with an open mind.
I am happy to say it did well!
I like it. It's not exactly astounding or breaking the mould but, to it's credit (and it deserves credit), it is simple, mellow and full of love andthe joy you would have used to expect from bob himself. Seems his mother is a joyful soul too :)
With the usual reggae roots fayre, sung nicely too - the female reggae vocal always gets me- and rounded off nicely with a couple of bob's songs. Done in his mothers own style. Of course.
Definitely one for the collection.

Clifton Chenier -- Louisiana blues and zydeco (Cajun / Zydeco / Swamp Blues / Bayou part 2)

Back again, just for a minute...
Cajun posts part two.
If you hate it already I suggest you come back in another day or so. :)
Now, quite apart from the previous post, this guy is leaning much much more into the Blues side of this genre. According to Wikipedia I present to you the 'King of Zydeco' and, FYI: Zydeco is a name for a washboard or rub board that was used as an instrument and was at the heart of this music! Learn something new every day. Here's more -
Check this story out for a bit of history...
'Texaco Refinery worker Willie Landry was working as a master welder/ metal fabricator in Port Arthur, Texas during 1946. There he met two fellow Louisianans by the name of Clifton Chenier and his brother Cleveland. Little did Willie Landry know that one day Clifton would be acclaimed the "King" of Zydeco music. In those early days, brother Cleveland rhythmically strummed his old time, hand held, washboard with "bottle openers". Cleveland played the rubboard to support Clifton's unique brand of emerging Zydeco music. The wood frame washboard was supported on Cleveland's neck by a rope.
One day Clifton approached Mr. Willie with a design for a musical rubboard, the "Frottoir" as it is known in our Cajun language. Mr. Clifton sketched the new design in the dirt, and asked "can you make one like that?". Mr. Willie replied, "I can make anything you want!"
.'
More Here (Worth the read..go on)
Although Zydeco isn't strictly Cajun it is not far away from it and is made of the same stuff for sure, so a good example of the range of styles I was talking about.
An album very worthy of this page!
Have a try...

Cajun / Zydeco / Swamp Blues / Bayou music starts here...

Hello again.
Something different?
ZYDECO.
Yep, that's what I said.
Cajun, Bayou swamp, Zydeco..call it what you like but I just love it.
I looked around for some last week and discovered a few recent torrents so that's what I've uploaded for you.
I know very little about the artists and, in many cases, the songs are Trad anyway but the music is brilliant! Maybe it's the Scottish blood in me, I have an affinity with music that is what I like to call 'real' music; acoustic instruments like fiddles, drums, violins or flutes..guitars and whatever else can be used to make a noise and is usually played in a persons garden in the summer, or, in a bar where the local drinking population are locked in for a late night. Preferably far away in the hills or mountains where the only sounds outside of the building are of the wind and a few wild Deer or goats..hehe.
Aahhh...Memories.

So what have we got?
To start is a pretty much all rounder of an album, with a good sampling of the(many) styles of this music that have evolved. I need to read up on it but it's not just a single genre (Cajun/Zydeco)but has so many 'flavours', I suspect it has it's roots in Blues..but then, maybe blues has it's roots in Zydeco for all I know. I never claimed to be an expert.
I have heard a lot of this stuff though. A friend in Scotland used to always be playing Cajun tunes so I got used to hearing it but never tired of it.
Some tracks can sound so much like hillbilly stereotype and yet another can have such a wailing bluesy feel...well this album covers a lot so it's a good start!
Various Artists - Absolutely the Best Cajun & Zydeco [1999]

OK that's the first. Before I go let me just say that if this isn't to your liking, don't ignore what's coming up: The next few albums are a bit more 'raw' and special...maybe not as commercial.
More Cajun coming right up!

Various Artists - Salsa Hits 2004

Hello.
It's been one of those days..my son staying over and not enough hours in the day, too many things to fit in.
Oh the woes of being a so-called 'Weekend Dad'.
Enough about that.
Well. I promised you something totally different yesterday so I had to make a choice between a few albums I had in mind.
I still wonder if I made the right choice but it's too late now so tough shit eh.
Here goes nothing.
Salsa dancing anyone?
I thought not.
Let me introduce to you...the wonderful, joy-filled, unstoppable uplifting beat-tastic tones of, the one, the only, the best (salsa) album this side of erm, eternity...
Salsa hits 2004.
*Drum roll ends here*
Yeah, go on.
Take the piss.
Be a judgemental imbecile.
Have you ever sat and listened to a bloody Salsa tune, let alone a whole album of different artists which, given a chance, will at least give you a bit more scope and a few various styles within the 'salsa' genre (is it a genre? - I know nothing, patently.)
I hadn't listened to an album like this until about three weeks or so ago. I downloaded it just for something drastically different to what I was listening to which had become about four albums in winamp, played on shuffle and repeating: Spoon, I Am Kloot, Stereophonics and some Oasis Singles!
So anyway...the Salsa album. I got it and told myself to give it at least TWO listens before assuming it was crap(As I usually did with this music).
To cut an already boring story short - I ended up actually liking the damn thing and now I listen to it more. Maybe more than is healthy, I'm not sure.
It's relaxing and yet really is upbeat and uplifting.
I urge you to try it.
There might be some Salsa music aficionado out there who will tell me that this isn't 'real' salsa music and how it's probably a load of crap compilation for tourists or something.
Well I am a tourist I suppose. Of this music at least.
I enjoy the ride.
Now I just wonder how many people will take the plunge and be as brave as I was..and how many will discover, like me, that they like it?!
More tomorrow and I promise you will like the selection!
Hehe.

David Gilmour - Paramount Theater, Oakland. 04-16-06 [BL]

Well, I really hope I didn't let you down as far as the ol' Theme Time Radio Hour goes. It has spurned me into getting this site back to some kind of place worth visiting more than once a year.
I'd like to share this great bootleg with you next.
I don't know much about it as I only just got a hold of it but, as usual when David Gilmour plays, it is a brilliant performance.
Did you see the show on BBC last week??
It was Sometime in 2007, Live at the Royal Albert Hall. Incredible stuff. I actually shed a tear due to the emotive power of the friggin' music!
I kid you not!
Amazing.
In fact if you don't mind downloading a video (499Mb Avi File) I will gladly upload and share that here.
Comments?
Anyway, the audio on this bootleg could be better and it is a lowly 80K bitrate (Before you get all snobby on me, LISTEN to it and then slag it off if you still think it deserves it)! It isn't as bad as it sounds (that sounds wrong but I know what I mean!). Sometimes low grade recordings can sound the same in high bitrate as they do in lower bitrates. I think that is the case here, so the encoder decided to go with 80K. Sounds fine to me and I AM picky and snobby about quality so let that be a guide for you. erm but do read on, please. :)
OK let me tell you: The main thing that I do find wrong with it is just the damn levels. It is not very loud!!
Turn it up it's ok obviously but still, I am trying to locate a better one. You still should hear the show and as I already scoured a few places, this is seemingly the only version around for now. I plan to locate the original FLAc files if there are any, then I can create 320K MP3 for you!!

As usual his rendition of the great classics such as Wish You Were Here(with his inimitable whining over the guitar solo!) are spot on, perfect.
He does Shine On with a crystal clarity that spins me out of orbit. the guy is just too good to put into mere words. he creates such a feeling of calm. He is the embodiment of calm I reckon.
Maybe it's a spiritual thing.
D'you think he might be the second coming of Christ perhaps?
Naa, I know, he is the first coming.
The arrival of the only true Messiah we have ever seen.
Here he is, here already and no one 'cept a few stoned hippies have bothered to notice him.
Well we can change all that right now.
Start by listening to his sermon..Ie, this bootleg.
You will be converted instantly.

A few words & An exploding Keyboard!

Let me just say a thank you to all of you who returned and have been downloading the files I put up. For those who may have a problem downloading from rapidshare or some have problems with megaupload, others with depositfiles.com. I have just finished the second part of the new Theme Time Radio post. I have posted links to all three of the sites I just mentioned and also a choice of split rar files, single rar files and even an unpacked, uncompressed MP3 file at megasupload if you prefer that.
I enjoyed his first show too. Not too shabby hehe.
Still, liked a couple of the early ones best so he has to surpass those yet. I just love the episode entitled 'Coffee' and the one called 'Drinking'. Is it purely coincidence that those two shows are about drugs of some kind?
Of course it must be.

Well, no music post tonight but business as usual(as it used to be that is) tomorrow.
Sorry but I've had a long day on the old PC things needing fixed and shit like that; keyboard blew up in a wild and scary way the other night:
Suddenly, late at night there was a loud CRACK! and a FLASH of electricity from the back of the tower unit and then...all the lights went out in the flat. Obviously the trip-switch had been thrown.
To cut a long story short, it turned out, because I had moved the PC table a bit to clean behind it and hadn't quite moved the table(with the keyboard on it) as much, the keyboards PS2 cable was actually stretched to capacity and I didn't realise it was twisted and trying to rip out of the socket. Well somehow it musty have split inside the PS2 plug and just blew. Short circuited.
I find it amazing that all of the damage was kept within the keyboard and it's cable/plug.
It was dead and had to be replaced. Yet the PC had no ill effects at all.
Thank God.
(There is a God!!)
Naah, I doubt it.

Hello and I'm back.

As the title suggests, I feel confident enough in the last few days to come here and say that I really am back at last!
Still unwell but to hell with it. I have had a pretty difficult few months and, well, let's just say I have decided to come out fighting and am having a swift change of attitude...I was getting a bit too defeatist there for a while. Kind of not giving a shit about things...resigned to being ill 24/7.
I don't think I was being weak...it just gets you sometimes and, well, if you aren't careful you can let pain and shit get the better of you..etc..etc..etc..bla.
So fuck that!
I'm back and this time it's erm...whatever.
It is no coincidence that, here I am posting this and...do you know what happened today?
You guessed it, THEME TIME RADIO HOUR season two aired it's first show in USA on satellite radio .
Hmm. I don't have satellite radio here.
But I know a man who can...or something like that.,
Just like the first season, get the show here and ?I will promise you consistent high quality MP3s every week, hopefully within a day of the radio broadcast.
I am downloading the show right now but it kind of clashes with UK night time and I am sooo tired.
It isn't what you want to hear. It isn't really what I want to type.
However, I can't wait for it. It's now 2am.
Going to sleep.
Will get up early.
Will post the new show.
You will have it in a few hours.

MUSIC FOR TONIGHT
While you're here you might as well grab this...another UK bands album of britpoppy-indie-cool-acoustic and relaxing stuff.
I like it.

A Didgeridoo of the artistic nature.

Another one.

Hello fellow pirates.
Once again I am still struggling here and while the pain still kicks me in the guts it will continue to be a struggle but I hope it subsides soon.
Enough of that.
I was thinking, I'd like to just do a little thing every post here where I can say what, in my opinion, is in favour that day or week and what things I hate for that week. Then you can either comment to debate or disagree or agree with me...or, as usual, just ignore me. Indulge me.

So for today I'd like to say:

A huge FUCK OFF to 'SecondLife'.
Have you heard about this shit? Are you an active member of it?
A virtual world where people spend hours and hours of their time, engrossed more in their virtual self than their real one??
Weird shit. They even start businesses, earn REAL money, etc etc. Companies are fighting for real estate and buying up land and advertising space there too.
It just gives me a kind of sick feeling.
So FUCK SecondLife and all who live there!

Also a big FUCK YOU to all those people moaning about this and that of how Princess Diana's memorial day should have been spent and if Charles' new wifey should have attended etc etc. Fuck those people. What the fuck has it got to do with 'the public' (yuk) when it is a family service? If those cnuts really were concerned or cared for Diana then they would have known the most known fact about her: She did anything for her sons. Well, her sons wanted their 'new mother' to attend the service. So that should have made it an accepted fact. but no...these mouthy pricks were all over the news and papers and radio, condemning the woman and eventually she dropped out and said she wouldn't be attending.
I am not a royalist by any stretch of the imagination but I just can't stand it when people give their opinion until it harms someone else...especially when they should just stay out of it, none of their business and all that.
So FUCK THEM, Nosey bastards.
Hmm so what is in favour then this grand sunny day?
I am listening a lot to the new Stereophonics album, Pull The Pin, which I have to say is definitely a keeper. I love it.
Try this track

Seems it harps back to the 90's for all of us die hard Oasis fans that never quite got over it! So many of the tracks sound just like those old Oasis tracks...but they are great. Kind of with a fresh sound to them too.
I'll have to post it soon. Mind you, a very unimaginative Google search brings a load of links for you to grab it by. Try these search terms:
Stereophonics +rapidshare
(that brings you a page full of sites offering the album!)
Another Creativity related choice for my second 'thumbs-up' for today:
The movies by Ray Harryhausen!!
I never got around to showing my son, who is now 7, the great animation and epic movies that are: Jason and The Argonauts, Seventh Voyage of Sinbad, Golden Voyage of Sinbad, Clash of the Titans and others...
So this week I decided to go on a downloading spree. (for a change).
I now have quite a collection of them for him to watch.
these movies are brilliant. Oh how people used to be sooo creative in the pre-computer animation days.
Obviously the monsters on these films don't exactly look 'real' in any way but their unreal look kind of adds to the magic of the whole scenario.
If you don't know about these films then where have you been living? Under a rock?
And, why not go and get one yourself... Try these links for torrents of the best films of his.
The 7th Voyage of Sinbad-1958
The Golden Voyage of Sinbad (FULL DVD size!)
Clash of the Titans
Jason And The Argonauts 1963 PAL DVDR (full 4.3Gb Sized DVD)
or Here from Pirate Bay
Earth Vs the Flying Saucers
Oh and incase you don't know, he animated the original King Kong too! Have fun!

OK OK, I know...where the hell is the music??
It's here you impatient git.

I got a few requests for me to reupload the 'Didgeridoo Dreaming' post I did a while ago. Well I couldn't because it was just a link I posted to files hosted elsewhere...not actually uploaded by me.
I have tried to find that album but I failed so I looked out some really nice Didg' music and here it is.
Highly recommended I swear.
Sit back, relax...get into some weird meditation mood..if you smoke weed, smoke some now!
Then when it's downloaded, go on a journey.
Hehe.
(If you don't smoke weed then good for you...you at least will remember the journey afterwards, unlike these dull potheads).
Let me introduce to you...
David Hudson and Friends (modern Didgeridoo musician who puts a different slant on the indigenous music of the Aborigines). Check this for info.
And secondly, but no less important I give you Inkalesh - The Dreaming Gate. Their music is also a modern slant on the traditional, it's hard to say if they adhere more to the older 'truly indigenous' music tradition or not. You must have a listen and let your brain cells decide.
More info here (though I warn you now of pretentiousness and words like 'alchemy' and 'conscience-expanding' ... etc etc!)
Speak to you again soon I hope.

By the way, if you have ANY troubles in downloading these then drop a comment here and I will personally, just for you mind, see to it that I upload them to another hosting service.
I promise.
