NEW LINKS! - Peter Tosh - Scrolls Of The Prophet - The Best Of Peter Tosh [1999]

The last album posted here was a bit tongue in cheek.
No, I am NOT becoming a bloody James Blunt fan!
I always promised to post a range of genres and styles of music on this here site and that is what I will continue to do. That includes crap like old Blunty and many others!

Right! Todays offering is one that should need no introduction, which is great for me considering I feel like shit and haven't got the energy to get too involved in this typing lark tonight.
For those who know nothing, Peter Tosh was a wailer, a member of Bob Marley and the Wailers and, apparently, as the band started to become bigger and more well known, Bob Marley was 'chosen' as the lead man over Peter Tosh due to the fact that Tosh had much darker skin tone than the whiter looking Marley!
He was a strong lyricist and had a hand in writing some of (my) favourite early Marley songs...'Stop that train' '400 years' are two I could mention.
This album isn't the best reggae album I can recommend to you but it is certainly one that everyone should hear, if they don't want to own it.
For the uninitiated: If you like the later works of Bob Marley, the stuff you hear on the 'Legend' album, then you will no doubt love this one.
I don't want to sound like I am saying this isn't a good one, it is!

Enjoy!

Some toss-head has reported the links as soon as they were posted. Well report these asshole...
You will now find that the links are protected around here and it's a great day.

James Blunt - Back to Bedlam requested 28th July.

What a handsome boy!
Want to know my thoughts on the great James cun, I mean blunt?
No, you don't. If you do though then look through the archives back to June or something last year...I think I posted this one then.
Anyway just for a change and because of the guilt I felt at missing the Dylan show, this was requested today and amazingly I went and found and uploaded it, today.
So enjoy!

I have some great new freehosts that I am using too. Egoshare is one and the other, cocoshare.cc is great, seems to let you download directly from there!

As I uploaded the mp3 tracks one by one I am not going to post every single link here...it is too much work!
Instead I will just upload the text document which I listed the links to the MP3s for you.
Get the text document, open it and then you have a list of links for the whole album ok!

Bob Dylan Theme Time Radio Hour and Hospital visit...

Well folks, I apologise to those of you who have been thanking me for bringing the Dylan Radio shows to you each week...and also apologies from me for being so cocky last week about the fact that 'I can bring the show to you here, FIRST! before anywhere else I know'. Doesn't sound so smart now does it?!
As you might have noticed, it is Thursday..maybe Friday now where you are and still it is not posted here!
Excuse?
Lazy?
Not really -
I can't be bothered and you won't be interested in details but I got a bit too unwell just at the weekend there and had to go into hospital and be monitored(among other routine-but-shite(!) things that they seem to sadistically enjoy in hospitals) for a few days. I only got back and got online today and I actually do feel bad about it!
So, for anyone who still wants the last Dylan show called 'Episode 13: Rich Man, Poor Man' then I am uploading to many mirror sites RIGHT NOW.
I've had plenty of great emails and comments about the consitent and good wuality of these shows, since I got a great source and starting getting them faster. Well this is sitll from the same source.
I can only upload as quickly as the broadband allows but I should have at least the first of the links ready for you within a half hour of posting this.
I am stil feeling pretty crap and just relaxing, getting my head around being ill again so suddenly after thinking the reduction in steroids would be a good thing(I am now on MORE!). So, bear with me.
The other mad thing is I already uploaded two albums the other day in preparation for either saturday or sundays post and I still haven't written the posts yet.
I will do it by this time tomorrow. Just needing a rest right now.
That's it really. NewsFlash over. Normal shit will resume soon.
Yes I Know..boring boring when all you came by here for was to see what you could download, not listen to some whiner going on about a load of uninteresting medical crap...
Try again tomorrow then!

Will post as soon as the files are uploaded.

-FIXED!!- Caravan - Waterloo Lily [1972] [English Progressive 'Canterbury Scene' Rock]

Whilst I wait for the Latest Theme time radio hour show to upload three days later than usual..(yes I know, I just feel such a twat after boasting about it!)I decided to post this album that was ready to be up here at the weekend but didn't make it due to my not quite making it myself -much further than the hospital that is.

OK MUSIC!
I was, for a long time, pretty obsessivly into the 'Canterbury Scene' of music that, surprise surprise, grew up and around many talented musicians who lived in and around the area of Canterbury in Kent. Not too far from where I live these days. their flavour of 'Prog-Rock' wasn't quite what the usual standard was about.
the talent and skill was in fact a cut above the usual standard: Some of the most highly talented musicians I could name were among the many members of the bands that sprouted during the Canterbury Scene heyday. The difference then, from the 'mainsteam Prog(if that is something that ever existed?!) was a mixture if a few things.
Notably the lyrics. Bands like Caravan who were one of the worst(!) for it, alongside the more skewed likes of 'Gong, would often base the lyrics of a track or 19minute progression(!) around something really silly, immature or just plain daft! I used to find it refreshing sometimes. Like a display of their talent: that they can play to you for maybe a 19minute soundscape and when it has the lyrical parts, you don't care a bit if they are singing about farm animals or english gents playing golf or trying to drop dumb schoolboy-ish chat up lines to schoolgirls and failing miserably! The music was just so bloody good, so mesmerising at times, powerful and capable of producing a truly unique journey and landscape of sounds and music that flowed more freely and more naturally than even water seems to.
Do I sound deluded??!
Probably but I stand by it.
Don't think for one minute that I condone every attempt at silliness or humour in their stuff because there is some crap in there but, mostly it fits the music and is great.
The music itself, apart from what you might imagine from the genre, was altogether more melodic than most. For the first time I found myself listening to JAZZ-based music and absolutely loving every bit of it. None of that freeform, no direction type of Jazz which I really cannot enjoy, even at gunpoint. No, more like jazz played from the mindset of a rock musician. Long musical interludes with some brilliant solos worked over a jazzy background. Solos on viola and Keyboard are Caravans forte and believe me you aint heard anything like it.
This album doesn't cover the wide range but definitely gives you an idea. One of the main reasons being that, like most of the Canterbury bands, the line-up was constantly changing, or 'evolving' and not always for the best. This album lacks the strength of one of my favoutie musicians, Dave Sinclair-the keyboard player. It has a more Jazzy sound that most of their other albums but that doesn't make it a bad one, far from it!
I plan to post a great compilation album I have of theirs that really hits the mark, showcasing their best stuff. So don't miss that soon.
When I was really into this scene, years after it actually happened(being only a youngster myself!) I would try to get every band that flirted with the Canterbury sound and tried to own all of the vinyl by the main players...Caravan, Camel, Gong, Egg, Gilgamesh, Robert wyatt and quite a few more obscure bands but I never got too carried away with obtaining obscure or rare bands, just those I mentioned were enough to be keeping up with, there are so many albums!
Also Matching Mole which is a Robert Wyatt project and really is something. I will post that soon.

I REALLY MESSED UP ON THIS ONE! - Read my explanation in the comments!

Because of this, and with it being such a hot HOT day today I can only throw you some links that I think some of you may find interesting.

Before I do, if you are more interested in some bloody great relaxing & mellow music, perfect for these summery days we are having, then you could do a whole lot worse than head on over to BaroqueDub website where you will find high speed downloadable EP and albums produced to a very high standard and, unlike the name suggests -they are not(only) DUB! Some are, and brilliant it is too...but they do a range of beats and I urge you to try them out!
http://baroquedub.co.uk/index.php
Go right to my favorite downloadable of theirs, The Burden Of Dreams EP, on THIS PAGE.

Now, the random links I was throwing at you. For a series which, personally I think is a load of unfunny crap but it certainly seems to be popular.
Without further ado let me give you...some episodes from
Series Five of FAMILY GUY!
Have fun.

PaddyRasta - Listen To Your Heart [2006] celtic Irish Reggae!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Hello to you on this roaster of a day.
Fuck me it's hot.

Right. I actually bought an album the other week. Yes you read that right said I BOUGHT an album.
I can hardly believe it myself but it's the truth.
Oh come on anyone would think I was always downloading my music illegally for free and never ever contributed to the profit of an artist or record company.
As if...

I sometimes listen to a talk radio station here in the UK called 'TalkSport'. As much as I detest all kinds of sport(apart from the odd world cup or wimbledon), I listen to this because years ago, when it first started it was just called 'Talk Radio'. Somehow it failed and was pretty close to going under until one day some smart arse decided to re-brand it as a sport talk station and, at the same time, saved the day and made it what it is now: The UK's leading(or only..?) talk radio station that covers all sport from here to Tibet and back.
NOTE, I gave you a link to the talksport website above but if you ever want to listen to the stream directly, they obscure the URL for some reason but here it is..
mms://194.46.192.142/talkSPORT
-just paste it into WMP or any other media player to listen. Anytime after 10pm UK greenwhich meantime is non sport talk shows. Some good - some not so good. Try it!
So my point is...
For some reason - and I am so glad by the way- the people in charge decided to keep the night time talk shows that have always ran on the station. So, for those of us with more than two brain cells and more of a passion for the food of life than just watching a few morons find yet another way to use a ball and a scorecard to get their kicks, the night time talk shows have carried on and are still pretty popular, even if they are merely the left overs from a hugely successful sports station.
The other week I was listening at about 3am and they were talking about some kind of 'beat the bands' competition they'd had running for a while..Not that I had noticed but I carried on and had a listen to the supposed 'best bands' so far. As each one came on and a single was played I found myself getting more and more lethargic...What bollocks. I was actually getting angry at the fact that, here I was, 3am and can't sleep and all I have to help my mind is this radio station and what do they spurt out into the airwaves but pure trash. Absolutely horrific attempts at melody. Pissy tunes with amateur riffs, amateur singing and most of all just nothing to grab the attention, even at 3am when anything would do!
Then I heard a song. It's called 'Freedom'.
Have a listen.

If the above movie won't work or play, click here to open and watch it in a new window.

Imagine it is you, in bed at 3am, in pain, can't sleep, getting fucking irritable at the mediocrity of life and then you hear it...
I think you'll agree that being impressed was by far the right reaction.

Let me cut this overly long story short.
I decided right then and there to go online(for a change) and found and bought the album as a download.
To say I was disappointed would be the understatement of the year but don't listen to me...Listen to the album and decide for yourselves.

Ok then here is a quick rundown.

The band, PaddyRasta, are pretty unusual in that they combine reggae with Irish/Celtic music.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
The result, as you find in the track played above, can be astounding. Unfortunately for PaddyRasta they seem to lack something which, in my opinion is central to what makes music good/bad or shit. That something is quite intangible and yet in evidence in all good or great music. A certain quality, a spark, a glimmer of genius or just an ability to convey emotion or feeling that sometimes comes out and beyond the music or voice and hits you right in the spinal cord.(sometimes!). Paddyrasta have to be one of if not the most lackluster performers I have ever heard in my life. I have listened to this album over and over but still almost nothing comes out from the speaker and hits my senses. I really love the track 'Freedom' but even then I feel that the lyrics and the vocal could do with some serious 'cleaning up'.
The lyrics are another point: childish; wannabe hippy-ish; pathetic; immature; idealistic damn fucking stupid at times.!
Like I said don't listen to me. ..Think for yourself!
I still have to admit one thing here and that is that they deserve full marks for at least trying to be original. They may not have pulled it off in my eyes but they do have a fanbase and even Shane MacGowan sees fit to have them support him so that says something. I read that they are pure brilliance live. I reserve judgment on that one.
Definitely new and crisp sound but executed poorly. I think that when they get their heads around studio recording...Maybe one or two more albums down the road, they might have something really worth banging on about!
An interesting peice of artwork whilst we are on the subject of Rasta

Jose Padilla - Man Ray V.4 --- Ambient Tunes, ala Cafe Del Mar --- [2005]

Jose Padilla - Man Ray V.4
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Hello there.
What an absolutely ROASTING summers day we've had here in England today.
Pity I just didn't appreciate it with my weirdness of the brain situation going on with steroid reduction now seemingly taking over each cell and turning into a sort of mush that isn't too capable!
Yet! I thought of you.
I did, seriously.
Though of myself too as uauals and had a look around for some soothing, ambient and relaxing tunes. something fitting for such a hot and lazy day.
You will no doubt be aware of the name Jose Padilla(should have accents on those vowels but it gets messed up on this blogger so I only use the english), he of Cafe Del Mar fame. He created the very first Cafe Del Mar album and worked in the bar in Ibiza of the same name. Coincidence? Hehe I think not!
Anyway it was a great album and, judging by the fact that there are...thirteen(I will get the latest one up here ASAP as I didn't realise there was another released this year!!) more of them as well as compilations, 'dreams' Collections and other variations they became hugely successful and in my opinion remains unrivalled in the 'Ambient compilations' world!

So let me introduce to you an album that has Jose's name on it alone, as opposed to the other things he has done which usually cite the artists he is mixing and he gets a mention somewhere as a footnote.
?I am not sure just how much of the music is his, if any. I know he is a DJ and mixes the shit together so who knows...Do you? Tell me!
This was not easy to locate so I am pretty proud to be bringit here for you all.
Don't miss the boat!
this is WELL WORTH a listen and will transport you to pastures new, green and lovely summer, happy, nice, quiet, peaceful, etc.
A long long way away from Israeli Bombing of Lebanon, Terrorists in Lebanon Goading for 'all out war' and US and UK governments trying to keep their heads down whilst in effect supporting the murder of innocent children (yet again).
Listen to this and try to forget it for a while.
Cheers for now.

Reggie and the Full Effect - 'Songs Not To Get Married To' & 'Bjork - Debut'...Some musings on Zidane the imbecile!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Does anyone really, I mean really give a toss about Zinedine Zidane now?
I wasn't just surprised but actually horrified the other day when, after the terrorist bombings on the train in mumbai, India, every UK national newspaper except maybe two, had opted to put either Zidane or the latest Big Brother contestants on the front few pages and, if they mentioned it at all on there, a small column about the bombings.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
When I looked into it further it was amazing: Most papers didn't feature even a page on the bombings. Nearly all of them didnt even feature the small story about it until maybe page ten or twelve. Putting all kinds or irrelevant shit before that.
At least it confirmed something to me which I have been saying for years..the UK newspapers are full of shit.
That's hardly news either though right?
So Mr Zidane...someone called him a name. Called his mother, his family, his pet rat or his ego...someone CALLED NAMES AT HIM!
Yet he is now being revered as some kind of hero for justice...why?!
Fucking twat. He had the eyes of the world on him and, in football, that means a whole lot of children hero-worshipping this idiot. So what does he do with such huge responsibility?
He head butts another player.
Why oh why the newspapers and even TV news, including the hallowed BBC, are so interested in trying to vindicate him is beyond me.
It really matters not one jot WHAT name he was called. We all know the old saying 'sticks and stones may break my bones(...but names will never hurt me'-for those that don't know it!).
Sometimes you have to react in a less than instinctive manner. If we all reacted like that twat the world would be in chaos.
Hang on...it is? Oh right. Fuckit.

Where are the updates to the site? -I hear you ask.
Good question...
I am currently going through some pretty intense medical shit so I will try but it's been a really difficult past few days. My medication, specifically 'prednisolone'(steroid) is being reduced to effectively check the levels of active disease and also to possibly replace it's function with another, less harmful long term treatment.
What this means is aches and pains and some weird mental effects. Steroids can do strange things to the mind believe me.
OK Enough!

I decided to stop the Bob Dylan obsession around here, at least musically. I will still make sure the radio shows are here FIRST(!) each week but it's time to get back to the site's manifesto of ALL GENRES, ALL STYLES of music so welcome back.
Today I share my day's playlist with you. I've been enjoying it so I hope you do too.
I hadn't heard of Reggie and the Full Effect until a few days ago when I saw the name somewhere and wondered what they were like.
I wasn't disappointed.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

It's kind of hard to describe as the tracks can vary so much from one to the next. Some of them hit you with a loud, thrashing, metal/punk electric guitar sound that almost makes your knees weak!! The next track starts off like some eighties electronica with silly/fun little melodies and synth sounds and a drum machine sound that isn't too dissimilar to a friggin' casio keyboard. Think Human League come Pavement come Linkin' Park and you are getting there. Quite a mix I know but it's as close as I can describe it.
I recommend it for sure. Some of these songs are really catchy and I am already in the process of downloading the rest of their albums.
If you are interested in more then let me know in the comments. Or not. Whatever.

The next album isn't quite so 'indie' but it shares something with the first..it's got it's fair share of weird sounds and is more than a little different from the usual mainstream pap.
Everyone has heard Bjork. The pixie faced Icelandic queen of pop.
I just like this album. It's good. It's great in fact. It's summer. Listen to it.

...Yes, I'm not totally stupid. I know it was a group of terrorists that did this but just look around the world today..there are many governments who carry out acts of terrorism and it is apparently acceptable. Israel anyone? USA anyone? UK Anyone? What about some African Countries?
So the label terrorist is difficult to define isn't it?

Torrent Links For DVD...Ultimate dylan - The Man in video [Volume 1] -- Bob Dylan DVD Exclusive Rare Etc..get it here! --

Hosted by Putfile.com

Hello again people.
I know you may not be interested in bob Dylan and maybe think it sucks but to hell with you. I spent too long making this for it to be too much of a hassle for you to download it!
To that end I have joined a plethora of bit torrent sites and simultaneously released it across the net for all.
If you have no idea what bit torrent means or you have a slight clue but have never used it before then, now is the time to change all that. It used to be a bit of a brain-ache to work it out and get yourself a good program with good stability for downloading but nowadays...wow. It has developed so well that now all you really need to know is how to click the mouse button about three or four times and you can have yourself a movie, album, discography or, in this case, a DVD.
So..to those who know nothing, here is the most basic advice and all you need too!
Download utorrent from here. When it is installed, You can pretty much let the settings stay at the defaults until you know more about it. Now you basically just need to download a torrent file (which is a text file containing information about a file you want to download), the torrent file works witht he program to get the details of the other computers online that are sharing the file in question. then your utorrent program joins in and you are now part of the chain. Everyone uploads and downloads parts of the file to each other. You will have the file you want sometimes very fast.
You can shut down, open and close utorrent whenever you like, it always keeps the data you already had. So if you're a modem user, no worries. It is high time you use Bit Torrent my friend!
I know this is a pretty basic and pathetic guide but it is REALLY fucking HOt here in England today and as I am a Scot, I'm in no way used to it so my brain and body feels half fried. Anyway this isn't a torrent guide website, I just want top introduce you to it enough to get you started.
The very first torrent you ever download can be the one you will find inside the rar file I have just uploaded here for you.....

Remember, just double click the torrent file and utorrent will start. If it doesn't go into it's OPTIONS, then PREFERENCES and look to the lower right. Press the button titled 'Associate with .torrent files'. then go open the torrent file and it will work!
