PJ Harvey - Is This Desire [1998]
Mmmm ... imagine a night spent in a gothic house in some bleak and remote location, fire burning logs, warm mulled wine and feet encased in mammoth furry socks. Press play and lean back into a battered Chesterfield and succumb to the musical equivalent of Green & Blacks dark chocolate. I use this particular brand as it's reputation is for smooth, sensual perfection and that is just what you get with PJ Harvey. Be warned though, there are times when a random and seemingly innocent piece will have been laced with powdered glass - you get a rasping, shrieking pain when you swallow but then Harvey brings you back from agony and smooths away your pain with generous helpings of beauty, imagination, lyrical poetry and musical artistry.
Needless to say, I quite like PJ Harvey and I hope you do too ...
By the way, this isn't HitMeWithIt; this is She Who Must Not Be Named (or as he says HitMe's woman) making a brief appearance. Hello everyone.

Thanks for posting "Is This Desire?" It's definitely one of Ms. Harvey's more overlooked albums -- maybe because it does have a more cold, detached feel to it. I like to listen to it in the winter.
In any case, would you consider posting "Four Track Demos"? It's the only PJ release I've never actually heard in its entirety. A friend of mine in college had it, though, and, from what I heard way back then, it was pretty great.
Thanks!
I hsall look for it and get back to you ok. Glad you enjoyed the albumm...try todays offerings - completely different gear but worthy all the same...
woah, how long since I listen to it again...
No words for Poly Jean Harvey..
