The Music Of Islam Vol 6 -Marrakesh, Morocco || The Passenger (Covers)

Hello my friends. I know some of you would be hard pushed to call the low down dirty likes of me a friend in real life but, suspend your perceptions of reality for a minute: after all this isn't reality. You thought it was?
Shame on you.

I thought it was about time for another selection and the next in succession of The Music From Islam series, of which there are about 15 in all. This one, Volume 6, is another great collection. It is called 'Al-Maghrib, Gnawa Music Marrakesh, Morrocco' and seems to bring with it a beautiful atmosphere which, in my case, makes me wander off into a world where I could quite easily be there, in Marrakesh, sniffing some of the local produce(and I really mean INHALING here!) and lazing about in the sun, visiting the Bazaars and buying, bartering, haggling for cheap imported Asian trinkets! The smells, sounds, hustle & bustle. It's all there. One day I may yet see it with my own eyes.
I hope you do too.

Give this one a try for your own sake. If you missed the previous volumes don't worry. I will be reposting the complete collection again after I get to Vol.15.
CHECK OUT THIS PANORAMIC IMAGE LINK of a haggling market! Cool!!

Various covers of the great Iggy Pop song, 'The Passenger'. These are interesting takes on the same song. I still prefer the original as the best though.

the islam stuff is great. onto arabesque next. personally i think iggy pop's an overrated crooning knob that jumped on the right cart at the right time, much like that cheeseburger singing with coldplay, but there you go, the bad with the good is necessary ;-)
