Bob Dylan - 1965 San Francisco Press Conference (Video)

Hello there.
Ill health is a bitch and yet again has been getting to me a bit much. Things are happening with the hospital to try and sort me out. New treatments etc. Fingers crossed and all that.

Now! When I first saw this I was totally blown away. Not only had I somehow been led to believe that Dylan had no real interviews of any length recorded, but also that he didn't give proper press conferences either. How wrong I was! This may be the only press conference he did (I think!) but it is no less amazing for that.
He's young and seems to be chain smoking whilst having a bit of a laugh answering the questions with, sometimes, quite irrelevant answers.
I have to say it's a sign of the times on the video that the questions are just so...well you'll see what I mean.
This is a fine piece of history we have here. I have watched it so many times since I found it and it never really tires or fails to amuse or interest me.
I was going to rip another Dylan Bootleg DVD for you so I got one called 'Compilation #1 'Just a Song n Dance Man'.
It has a few performances on it, mostly old stuff and then it has this full press conference at the end.
After I ripped the whole DVD I was converting it to XviD and I noticed that all of the other stuff has already been shared with you as it is also on the other 'Telecasts' discs I uploaded. So, not wanting to reupload the same thing again I just took the press conference from it and have encoded and upped that for you.

Please don't miss this chance to see it in better quality than youtube for a start! It's a special video for any Dylan fan but it's also interesting to see how times have changed, in the way the people are, the questions they ask etc...it's fascinating to me.

The boring Stuff then..

Bob Dylan's 1965 San Francisco Press Conference

When Bob Dylan's five concerts in the San Francisco Bay Area were
scheduled in December 1965, the idea was proposed that he hold a
press conference in the studios of KQED, the educational
television station.

Dylan accepted and flew out a day early to make it.

He arrived early for the press conference accompanied by Robbie
Robertson and several other members of his band, drank tea in the
KQED office and insisted that he was ready to talk about "anything
you want to talk about." His only request was that he be able to
leave at 3 PM so that he could rehearse in the Berkeley Community
Theater where he was to sing that night.

At the conclusion of the press conference, he chatted with friends
for a while, jumped into a car and went back to Berkeley for the
rehearsal. He cut the rehearsal off early to go to the hotel and
watch the TV program which was shown that night and repeated the
following week.

This is the only full length press conference by Dylan ever
televised in it's entirety.

Oh how old we grow so fast.
A great man once said that.
It was me about a minute ago.

Hey psteve, thanks for the facebook link. I am one of those people who just refuse to join facebook.
I'm not even sure why anymore...I just hate joining the 'in-crowd'.
Or something.
Ciao.
