The Music of Islam Volume 2 | Underworld MP3s

The Rabab. An instrument you'll hear on this album.

This was so popular when I posted Volume 1 that I decided to provide every volume, sporadically over the next month or so. I didn't like this volume as much as the first but it still has a lot to offer. Make sure you check out this page and this page for a bit more info about this collection. Apparently the percussion is an 'oil-can drum' which is about the first image search on google i have tried that hasn't yielded a resulting image of the item.
Damn google. I know there are a million other search engines but who gives a fuck. I can't be bothered. Would have been interesting to see a drum like that though but let's use our imagination:
It's an oil-can, hit like a drum.
Hehe.
I urge you to read this page to learn about the fascinating lives of these Sinai Bedouin Tribal people. It makes you feel kind of humbled in your relative luxury that lacks a sense of reality in comparison.
Real Bedouin Tent.

As mentioned in my previous post, I will be including some direct MP3 links just to help this site climb the charts so to speak. Today it is 'Underworld' whom I actually do like and so thought you might appreciate some of their tracks. Remember their horrendous 'Lager Lager' track that used to render your mind crippled in disbelief? Well, enjoy these!

apparently, an oil-can drum is actually a drum made out of an oil-can !! :-) check out this link (you can even find instructions on how to make your own !!) http://www.toucans.net/Toc/makeYourOwn.html

and this link http://www.thebrooklynrail.org/music/april04/astralweeks.html (and allmusic) for info on George Coleman who accompanied himself on homemade oil-can drums ... (small photo on the album's cover)

PS it seems both metal bands and ... caribbean bands like using them ... :-)

PPS alltheweb.com is better than google as far as I'm concerned... just not as popular - try a9.com for image searching as well

Thanks for those penny. I know of alltheweb. I have a million sites in my faves folder and the search engines directory is massive too. I think i just got lazy and like most people..just googling it is faster when you cant be bothered!
Then you end up forgetting there are actually other search engines, like you say, that are BETTER!
