Spoon - Girls Can Tell -Working LINKS

Here's a thing:
Does anyone actually give a shit whether Princess Di tried cocaine, gave Charles marks out of ten for his bedroom prowess or gave anal sex to monkey-suited polititians whilst 'farting' bananas out of her front bottom? (yes, I made that one up)
Don't you agree that the selfish, money-grabbing bitch who wrote the book about 'the real Diana' is deserving of all the heckling and nasty criticism the world can throw at her?
I say burn the bitch.
At the stake. Whilst wired up to electrodes that go directly to her pain receptors in the brain. In fact, wasn't there some form of torture where they placed a glass dome shaped 'helmet' over the whole head, face and neck. It has a hole in one side which leads directly to the ear. There is a channel coming off this hole which serves as a place to introduce some very hungry rats into the tube/helmet. Then there is a fire set behind the entrypoint(which is also the only exit) where the rats came in.
The result is a hilariously disgusting rats-eating-through-human-skull-brain-ears type of scenario.

My mouse sticks and I couldn't draw with it but you get the idea...

Hosted by Putfile.com
I would probably consider something like this for the bitch.

Mind you, on reflection: I don't give a flying fuck.
About Di, Dodi(what kind of a name is that anyway??!), the Royals or any of those pricks who are defending or selling the story of Diana.
I just want an excuse to try that torture out.
--------

Music!
I am getting deeper in each day.
Bloody Hell!
Spoon.
I fuckin' love this band.

Nothing else to see here.

Move along please.

As you were.

This album is actually 192k bitrate yet only two files? That's because the tracks are short and the total playing time is less than 40minutes.

Spoon - A Series Of Sneaks

Hosted by Putfile.com

Spoon.
I can honestly say that, (at least since I started doing this site) this is the only band that as soon as I heard the opening track -my ears pricked up: I was affected instantly. The music, the voice. The guitars.
Do you like electric guitar music?
Do you like that sound of many guitars harmonising and (sometimes) screeching from your stereo to your ears to the back of your brain?!
They are skilled at writing catchy guitar riffs which then become catchy songs and they just love to use the old repetitive, layered, build-up method of engraving that song on your mind forever. Like the track 'June's Foreign Spell' which starts off with a thumping drumbeat, layered guitars and cymbals and then you are off when the vocals come in, unstoppable. It ends with the same drumbeat and cymbal that by that time, starts to feel almost climactic. You don't want the song to end. Brilliant.
I may have lived in a bubble for too long but I am quite amazed these lot haven't gone mainstream. The Lead Singer, Britt Daniel sings in a way that is right from the heart. The songs on this album just get better and better and it is one of those that, when it reaches the last track you just have to put it on repeat. This is their second Album (1998). I never heard the first(Telephono [1996]) and will be looking to upload it when I get it so watch this space. For now, have a listen to this one and look forward to hearing the one they released after that which I will provide tomorrow.
I wonder what I did before I discovered Spoon.

Fall Out Boy - From Under The Cork Tree

Fall Out Boy.
Punk again. American sound for sure.
From Under The Cork Tree is their second album. I'd advise them to avoid a third but I doubt they would listen. They aren't talentless, just undefined, bland and unoriginal. Very skilled time changes with erratic drumming and lots of angst and energy. They sound young. Are they? I don't know, I only listened to them for a while today. A bit like a punk version of friggin' Mcfly! (yes, that is a bad thing).
Maybe good for driving on a summers day pretending you're an American (why would anyone want to do that?) and a teenager again!

*thinks*

..Maybe not.

I don't like them: You might.

The Futureheads - The Futureheads

Turned out nice again.
The Futureheads remind me of a few bands: The Jam, Stiff Little fingers and a mixture of any punk bands you might pluck from your memory..(chances are they will have some likeness). Saying that: it isn't a bad thing. Their sound is crisp, clear and sharp. Thumping beats with High octane energy and lots of it.
In fact a lot more energy than I have today so that's all for now.

Four Tet - Pause [2001]

Hosted by Putfile.com

Well here I go again, irritating the hell out of you plonkers that rate yourselves much too highly on the Darwinian scale; Apes with the ability to type yet what is it they say about monkeys and typewriters..hmm.

I am referring only to those that read this with their condescending ego-inflater jammed permanently on, poised to leave a dumb comment that tells me yet again I don't know music..

To the rest of you, lets enjoy some music dammit.

Like it or hate it here is another album.
I will make you fume even more by first telling you that I had never heard of this band either until a few days ago. Since then I have been listening and loving it.
Apparently the frontman, Kieran Hebden, was a member of Fridge -Yep, I don't know much about them(!) and he started releasing his own stuff under the name Four Tet in 1997. The first album, Dialogue seems to have been well received and this one is no different.
Of course as this one was released in 2001, there are a couple more recent albums to dig up. I will try to do this soon. The third album, 'Rounds' was very highly regarded and awarded nominations for awards with various magazines including NME.
Four Tet are not a band to be dismissed without having a listen and when you do, you will want to hear more. I now need to get hold of a Fridge album or two...I can't resist.

Enjoy this one for now.

[1983] TOM WAITS - Swordfishtrombones

I used to be one of the unfortunates that didn't know Tom Waits existed. Not so now.
Swordfishtrombones is like a trip into a dark world that, when you enter it, is pretty hard to leave until it lets you go and throws you out the other side!
I mean with lyrics as vivid as these:
'Well Frank settled down in the Valley and hung his wild years on a nail that he drove through his wife's forehead'
How can you ignore it?

I met this guy, Simon a few years back. He lived in a great Georgian stately home that was split up into flats. His flat took up the whole ground floor. It was impressive. He had a grand piano in there and was highly talented at playing it whether it was some Mussorgsky, Rachmaninoff or stuff like John Lennon or Pink Floyd. Listening to him play was such an emotional experience. He used to do nothing most days and was usually to be found in his flat playing some rambling tune -with a spliff of homegrown grass in the ashtray and a glass of Gin on the piano.
He introduced me to Tom Waits one day. It was a bit of a difficult time to do this as we had been smoking such strong 'skunk' beforehand that, when he put this album on and it started off with the trademark Tom Waits Blues sounds and his throaty growling voice, it made me feel, well, rather ill to be honest. Hehe.
Oh the innocence of youth and all that.
I quickly became very into Tom Waits and was soon scouring second-hand record shops for anything he ever put to vinyl.
This album still stands up as one of his best in my opinion.
Try it.

Pink Floyd - The Wall ..Scissor Sisters ..Comments

After reading a comment on The Wall Demos post I decided to reply here with what I think about Pink Floyds greatest moment.
The Wall:
Meandering, dull and over-long and self-indulgent Roger Waters monster with no impact or direction?
Or
Pink Floyds most ambitious and successfully executed album which marked a defining moment in the history of a band that always put itself on the edge of 'prog' or the concept album.
The latter I think, it's obvious.
I don't know what others think but I have a theory that to fully appreciate all of the situations and concepts Waters alluded to in the depths of The Wall, you would have to be English or at least have some experience of life in England (read 'Britain') and the educational system, parenting methods and the good old English tradition of keeping a 'stiff upper lip' and all of your feelings, emotions hidden under a veneer. Locked away for no one to see.. Not even yourself!
The reason I say this is that as far as I know, this is mostly an English thing. People the world over are known for their flair and the way in which they express their emotions. The French through art and film, Italians too. Americans are taught from birth about Self confidence and self belief. Africa, Russia, Aboriginal Australia, China and Japan, Europe is a hive of creative and artistic activity where expression in one form or another is looked upon as a quality, not embarrassingly pointed at and sneered at(as in England).
The Wall looks at a lot of these misgivings of the English and tries to open them up to the listener. The lyrics, I feel, are no made up story. They have to be based, at least partly, on Roger Waters' own experiences of the life and country he was born into. I know as I have experienced some of these situations myself.
Yes, you might say the album is a bit pretentious, it doesn't only explore these concepts but tries to explode them and blows everything out of proportion but that is a well used way of conveying a story. Charles dickens did it, Shakespeare did it and authors still do it today. Exaggerate the characters to get the story across. Or something like that. I think you get the point.
Musically, The Wall for me is perfect. I play guitar and write my own stuff too and when I hear some of the Gilmour solos or the chord progressions on comfortably numb, Thin ice, even 'Mother', I know I am listening to a masterpiece.
I got a comment that went 'The scissor sisters showed how great Comfortably numb could have been if Roger Waters hadn't been so far up his own arse'. Well, I had no idea until then that they had covered the track So I went looking for it.
SHOCK AND HORROR!!
Have YOU heard this horrific and base, tasteless and soul-less version?
Check it out here...Windows media streaming video.
So now I realise that the comment must have been irony!

Music later. Been doing so much downloading of stuff to put up here that time has got the better of me for uploading but there will be a good Tom Waits album later -one I requested on some forums and no one had it so I got it myself!

FTP Problems..

Hmm. I am amazed at the slow response to the FTP.
I know it isn't exactly groundbreaking music but there has been a number of you logging in and then seemingly unable to operate things properly, trying to change to directories that don't exist or other problems.
So maybe you just don't use FTP very often. That is fair enough.
So, for those of you who did try, or wanted some album but didn't bother trying,
Leave a comment or email me at hitmewithit@gmail.com with the request and I will upload it to RS and post the links here.

I am in the process of a huge upload for later today. A brilliant reggae collection. And I am not talking 'Shaggy' or the likes. Pah, that isn't reggae it's mince!

Check later..

Abattoir Blues - The Lyre Of Orpheus

Nick Cave - Abattoir Blues/ The Lyre Of Orpheus

There aren't that many people in this world who can truly sing from their soul. When Nick Cave is singing you get the feeling that it is almost not quite human, on our level I mean. His voice seems to be the formation of a deep, dark soul that even he isn't able to fully understand. His passion is awe inspiring. I defy anyone to listen to -and I mean really listen- his latest work and not be moved.
Like Morrissey, I never liked Nick Cave. I think I used to say something like...'Oh is that the ugly looking Australian twat with the screeching whin'ey voice?', or words to that effect. Now I realize the error of my ways!
I reckon age has a lot to do with it. When you're in your twenties you don't care too much for lyrics over the music. You want a catchy tune or a banging beat to get off your head to or relax to. Who cares if the lyrics are shite? If anyone cared about shite lyrics when they were young then a lot of people, myself included, would never have even listened to Oasis never mind going to their concerts! (I am guilty of both charges..Oh and I still like them for some reason).
This album springs to life and jumps right out of the speakers with the first track:
Get Ready For Love.
This is a great tune. Screeching guitars, Upbeat, difficult to restrain yourself and not get up and start dancing like a fool. When you hear this, you just know you're going to like the album.
The second track, Cannibals hymn, is a bit less accessible to the non Nick Cave fan but sit back and go with it. You will be converted pretty quickly.
Don't miss Track 3 - Hiding All Away which shows you what Nick Cave is all about: Deep, melancholic Blues oriented tunes with a sense of the romantic poet about them.
The whole album is a mix of melancholic music with the trademark sharpness of lyrics and his take on the world which can make you smile at times, interspersed with some anthemic, upbeat, positive tunes that can carry you through the rest of the day.

This is a true masterpiece.
You just know a lot of thought and work went into this.

Nick Cave must be one of the best lyricists alive today.
Not many around like him that's for sure.

Morrissey - Live at Earls Court

No time today.
This is fucking excellent. I used to berate Morrissey, The smiths and all people who were into it but in the past year or so, coinciding with his 'comeback' album, I have had my eyes opened wide.
I can't believe I thought this stuff was shit.

Album Description
As Morrissey's critically acclaimed world tour ended during the holiday season 2004 in the UK, the audio trucks were there to capture the five sold out dates: London, Glasgow, Birmingham, Brighton and Dublin.
I only added that so that you know which tour this is taken from, I can't spare any more time today..

Stephen Malkmus & Steve Harley

On my last post here I called the band 'Crooked fingers' my latest love. Well I hope you'll believe me when I tell you that I had a playlist in winamp and I thought it was them, but it was Bloc Party!
Crooked fingers? More like 'Mangled Spinal Cord', which is what these trumpeting farts must have and is the only plausible excuse for having an album filled with trite, boring, plodding and very tiresome music. Their level of retardation must be high going on majestic. Fuck Crooked fingers.
May they never darken my door again.
Arrgghh.

Stephen Malkmus - Face The Truth.
I might as well say it. I like it.
The first track comes on sounding like some shitty ringtone but if you stick with it, it gets more interesting. I have only heard this once so I'm not qualified to pass comment any more for now. I recommend it though as it definitely wasn't offensive.

Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel - The Cream Of..
Well. What needs to be said? This guys voice always made my ears prick up. Something about it is almost haunting. Sometimes the songs aren't even that great but they have his voice in them, which makes them something more than great. I doubnt I could ever tire of him.
Favourite song and one to listen out for: 'The Best Years of our Lives'. Anthem of a generation that one I'm sure. What generation I don't have a clue but let's just say its a good track.
You think I talk shit?
Have you heard anyone with a more enigmatic voice than Mr Harley?

Pink Floyd - Under Construction: The Wall DEMOS

I was pretty excited to hear this after discovering it yesterday.
It does not disappoint. It's great to hear the way that some of the tracks were originally so flawed and that's musically and lyrically. It reminds you of the immense amount of effort and work that was put into creating the final masterpiece 'The wall'. Some of the tracks actually sound better in areas too. Whether you are a fan or an obsessive nerd(in which case you will already have this!) or just someone who appreciates good music, download this one.
I have more bootleg and rare Pink Floyd so maybe, if you want it, I can upload it.

Caesars - Paper Tigers

Caesars

When I first became aware of this band after seeing a reference to them on another website my first thought was OH NO not that fuckin' advertising campaign song that I can't seem to get away from. Shit. That bastard crazy frog is enough to deal with. God I HATE advertising.
Not to be judgmental I decided to have a listen and I am glad I did.
They are one of the most original sounding bands to have surfaced lately and, apart from the odd reminder of an Oasis song(not good), they produce just the right kind of tunes to be listening to during this somewhat erratic summer. I have just spent an hour or so lazing on the grass by my house with Paper Tigers playing. Perfect.
Not much more I can add. Just listen to it and see for yourself.

There is so much music I just accquired that I can't seem to get it uploaded fast enough. I need faster broadband.
Just be satisfied there are plenty of cool albums lined up including some brilliant Hendrix, Steve Harley, more David Bowie and some excellent Live Morrissey as well as Pink floyd, Bob Marley and a smattering of new stuff when I get around to listening to it all.
Tomorrow is Ricky Gervais and Co on XFM London radio so I will be spending a bit of time relaxing to that and then encoding it to upload. Hopefully it will elicit a better response than -it sounds like a can of wasps..

Bowie - Heathen

Here I go again.
Choosing a great album to offer up.
Taking the easy route? no. just trying to give you some nice tunes and maybe affect your miserable little lives in a way you couldn't even comprehend. (until you'd heard 'Gong' that is)
So, onward!

Bowie - Heathen
From the opening track, 'Sunday', which is Bowie doing mellow. When Bowie does mellow, you get relaxed. Next up is 'Cactus' which is the track on this one that most reminds me of the Bowie of oldtime. The music sounds almost dated without sounding like a rehash of his or anyone else's stuff. It is instantly recognizable as a cool Bowie track, that's all I'm trying to say.
'Slip Away' is the next track and this one has it all. Starts off in the Bowie mellow mode then, just as you are accepting the atmosphere he has created for you, you are lifted up into a chorus which just oozes philosophical and life-affirming wisdom. ~Makes you go a bit silly and you get flashbacks of past girlfriends, jobs, places, mistakes and successes, lives even(for the freaks reading this).
I love this song.
Next Track (wait a minute, I won't be reviewing every damn track on every friggin' album! bollocks to that!) is 'Slow Burn' which is pretty uneventful in my opinion. Nothing much here. Best part being Bowies voice fading out and the way he sings out the title. That sounds great. But! Album filler. Next!..
'Afraid' is track 05 and hmm. I am not inspired by this one too much although I will say it has that magic spell that only Bowie can put on a person. Therefore it has something. I just don't know what!
'I've Been Waiting For You' starts off promisingly with some wailing guitars then drops into a verse that reminds me of a million eighties bands.
Again, It did grow on me as part of the whole but, on its own, this is Album filler.
'I Would Be Your Slave' ..everyone knows this I'm sure. It's had a lot of airplay and I can't fault it. I actually love the song. Still got that underlying eighties beat and feel; to it but hey..look around you. Seems to me that the eighties are coming back already!
At least this track isn't a rip-off of another decade.(Oasis!!)
It is a truly original piece of music. The verses are melancholic and surrounded by the very uplifting chorus, which is Bowie all over. Good track!!
Track 08, I Took A Trip On A Gemini Spacecraft. Not sure with this one. I can't work out what genre this is trying to be, if any. It's very dancey, spacey and even trippy but it smacks of eighties again along with Bowie's voice which makes it just, kind of weird. I don't like it much.
[5.15] The Angels Have Gone - Track 09.
Starts off like one of those relaxation Cds they play in Acupuncture and Aromatherapy places! The 'ethnic' drumbeat repeating slowly with 'voices' layered over it.
When Bowies voice cuts in and drags the whole thing into the area of pseudo rock, you find yourself wondering what can happen next. Then the chorus comes out of nowhere, two lines and you land right back into the acupuncture room.
Is it good?
Of course it is you fool. It's David Bloody Bowie!
There are more tracks but I can't be arsed to write about them. It's late, I had some pretty bad news today and I need some sleep. Mind you, 'Everyone Says HI' is a lovely track. You find yourself singing it hours after you heard it. One of those songs that, if you were to hear it before you leave the house in the morning, you'd still be singing it in your head by the end of the day. That is classic. An instant classic.
Ok thats enough!
Seems no one reads this already anyway!
If so, post a comment so that I know you are human?

Let me just add that the MP3 Tagging software #2 I gave you below, is one of the best I have used! They weren't lying! It has been able to complete any task I have required it to do so far.
Only a couple of program tests into my 'quest for the best' and already I have a strong contender?!

If you didn't give it a test run then go and download it now. You will thank me I promise.

Gong - Radio gnome invisible part II - Angels egg

See?
The masters of rock (prog).
Never heard of or listened to 'Gong'?
You really haven't lived my friend.
Sort it out. Right now.
If you smoke weed then I suppose it will be better for you to fire one up and sit back on a summer afternoon. Mm.. (I gave up all that but I still remember the effects).
Whatever you choose to do just let the music wash over you and go with it. You can't help but relax with this album.

It's been a long day. I should write more about this album, especially as it is probably one of the most perfect and exciting pieces of music to ever be produced on two sides of vinyl! The problem is I have an early start tomorrow and it has taken a while with [RS} just getting it uploaded so why don't YOU give me YOUR reviews, comments on the album?
If there is one thing I do have, it is plenty of 'Canterbury scene' or good ol' English Prog-rock from the period in history when it was flowing well, circa '63 - '77. Maybe even a little later.
Wow.
That was my reaction to the news of Pink Floyd reforming for the Live8 concert.
Damn. Wish I'd bought a ticket from eBay now instead of moaning and criticising the twats that were trying to sell them.
FaaaCK.

Bob Marley - A Rebel's Dream

I have to go out in ...Ten minutes.
So today's effort is a great stand-by. You see, it is a collaboration set with some great tunes on it, mixes of Marleys music, some talented artists putting their perspective onto his work.
I love it!
Ok there are a couple in there that don't quite work as well as others -Busta Rhymes Rastaman Chant is my favorite just now but I can't STAND Laurin (SP?-there are too many conflicting resources on the f'kin' spelling of that name, who gives a fuck anyway) Mill. Her voice grates on my nerve endings to the point of meltdown.
You need this album.

MP3 Tagging program #2

Rain. Good for the garden. Wet on the clothing.
Overall, I like it. Keeps the riff-raff indoors too which can only be a good thing right?

Here comes my second offering in the realms of MP3 tagging utilities. I must point out that not all of the software I will offer in this section will be recommended, just put here so that you may try it out and make your own mind up. After all, I do like to be right most of the time but it just isn't possible. Therefore even if I hate something I will still offer it up. If you're too stupid to realise when something is shit far be it from me to attempt to change your mind.

MP3-Tag Studio v3.05
Here is yet another program that claims to cater to 'all of your MP3 releated needs'. If you are to believe the website then you'd be forgiven for thinking that, short of actually locating and downloading the files for you, this really can do everything.
Unfortunately upon starting it up I soon realised that this was far from true. Right away, I am irritated by the fact that the program window is not either resizable or maximum screen sized. It sits there in the centre of the screen and is just too damn small.
Hmm.
I open the 'settings' and -shit! How many settings does a person need?!
I am already getting bored with this shit. Half of the options are things that I either don't understand or don't want to understand. Obviously the programmer knew what he was doing but no one else does.
Hmm.. on a closer inspection, this really does have loads of tools in it! Renaming is covered(though I need a bit of usage before I can comment on it's abilities), tag removal, synchronizing, updating, naming files from tags and vice-versa, trimming(!?) MP3s, repairing MP3 corrupt headers(can be very useful), creating playlists or html files of your collection and still more tagging related options that are so numerous my mind can't get a grasp on the complexity of it all.
Maybe I was too quick to judge this one. Maybe it really is 'all you'll ever need'.
Somehow I doubt it.
I'll find its faults soon enough.

Art Brut (and The Streets)

So much for 3pm. I had to struggle to get here by 6pm today. Oh well the world won't stop spinning.
It is already starting to irritate me the amount of conjecture and petty chatter regarding Michael Jackson; will he have a career; won't he have a career; is he guilty and got away with it; is he innocent and the victim of personal vendetta by the D.A; is he a weirdo with a fucked up face who really deserves none of this attention.
Ok I made the last one up but it's the most realistic in my opinion. Fuck CNN ABC BBC news 24 and Mr Jackson. Fuck 'em all.

That's better.
Now, Thank you to David for bringing this band to my attention. Never before heard of them and so I listened with a completel;y open mind.
did I like them?
Hmm. I have to say the jury is still out. They are quite punky which isn't a bad thing but they do have the unfortunate likeness to 'The Streets' whom have become one of my pet hates over the past year due to the amazing lack of talent voiced in the lead 'singers' erm..poetry.
The Streets are proof, if ever we needed any, that the general public will buy anything if it is marketed in the right way, I.e.with a matching irritating ringtone and a 'cutesy' lead singer who speaks/sings/talks of 'stuff you can relate to 'n that innit'. Bollocks.
So Art Brut. They are not The Streets and are not in the same irritation league I am glad to say. The songs are definitely entertaining and they get ten out of ten for originality but I do have a feeling the entertainment will not last and then I will be forced to refrain from listening to them again. Ever.
(Sorry David).
I'll let YOU decide.

Ian Brown - Solarized. The Bonus Track (here)

Well I did say I would provide you with Track 09, which turned out to be the bonus track so not exactly a 'missing track' as I thought before.
Nevertheless I numbered the tracks as if there was one missing so now you can add this as track 09 and have the complete album.
Was harder to locate this than I would have thought. It seems not many people actually have the bonus track so enjoy it!

MP3 Tagging program #1

Its time to sleep but I wanted to quickly get this program link up here.
I have been getting pissed off with the MP3 tagging programs I use, each one seems to have different features yet not one of them fits the bill perfectly. They all seem to have been designed by someone who obviously doesn't do a lot of renaming, tagging or whatever else with MP3 files. Otherwise they wouldn't have such awkwardly placed buttons, interfaces that make their use more difficult or bloated skins and flashy crap I don't need.
So I have been downloading and testing what seems like far too many for it to be healthy and it is my mission to find the best designed and easiest to use. This may take some time I realise.
For now(as this obsession is far from over), I can highly recommend this one:
Abander TagControl v2.3.180
They even have a website.
http://www.softartstudio.com/tagcontrol/
Brilliant program.
I could still complain about it but at least it is heading in the right direction.

Music @ 7pm

I don't like to get complaints.
I also don't like to pander to every twat that moans and whinges about the slightest thing either.
Of course I don't mean you.
Anyway, inane chatter aside :)
Here is something..

Ian Brown.
I was never one of those Stone Roses fans that could talk to you all day -and all night, especially with the amount of amphetamine and ecstasy they were taking- about how great and cool and er, yeah, whatever man. have some of this..uh-huh.
I didn't really know they existed when they were making it big. I don't remember where I was at the time either, just like them. Though my excuse is probably a lot more mundane than theirs. I was helping my mother make Jam; cleaning public toilets to support our family; spending days at a time camped outside the benefits offices to put in another claim for a 'crisis loan'. Something like that.
I heard a track of Ian Browns and it did weird things to me. Reminded me of my old ecstasy days too. So much so in fact that I have just tracked down an album of his to share with you.

Ian brown - Solarized. (2004)
Apparently some of his best solo work to date. Though the rollingstone review has a slightly diferent idea -namely, they think it's crap and pretentious.
Never!
Ian Brown? Pretentious?

He has a sound all of his own. Mixes a techno beat with some great platitudes of spaced-out trippy-hippy feelgood stuff. I never was a professional album reviewer so listen and let me know what you think.
Here it is (minus track 9 which, read the enclosed note, I WILL find and get to you ASAP).

Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington.

The most hilarious show on the planet these days is without contest the Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant radio show on Londons XFM. The show ran a couple of years back and I had no idea about it then. Someone pointed it out to me and the fact that XFMs website gave downloads of the archives(unfortunately without the music) and since then I have been a fan.
Recently I was having a look on XFM.co.uk and discovered that they were coming back(only for 6weeks to fill in for some other Djs). I made a point of catching the shows this time around, as they are broadcast, live online.
For anyone who wants to keep their own archive with the music, I recorded the stream and have posted it below. The stream was the high quality one and is as good as it can sound. Decoded to Wav it was over 1.2gb!!
For all you ipod freaks out there I have managed a minor miracle. The show now makes a good listenable quality and comes out at 40MB.
Well, I was impressed at least..
I swear it doesn't sound crap like some underwater 32kbps mp3. Oh no. Its fine. Try it.
I removed the advertising and any other crap to make it as small as possible.

Links:

No longer uploaded. Send me a request (A donation?) and maybe i can be persuaded to upload the lot ;)
===============

I swear, if this doesn't make you howl with laughter then I want nothing more to do with you.
The show is billed as Ricky and Stephen but the 'producer' Karl, is the true star. Without his presence I doubt Mr gervais could carry it off quite as well as he manages to.
Look out for the parts where Ricky attempts to sound like an intellectual as he is 'educating' Karl -on topics they both don't have a clue on.. evolution, genetics, etc. Brilliant!
Some music to follow.

Winamp Pro 5.091

Who still uses Winamp?
Even after that 'World leader disguised as a Corporation -that swallows all in its path' took over and horrifically changed it until it resembled less 'original and useful' winamp, more 'bulky and slow' AOL browser software style bloatyware!
Well I was surprised to learn that yes!, some people do still use it.
So for all you idiots that won't give it up, here is the latest (I believe) winamp in all its glory.

Winamp Pro version 5.091.
Download it from its real proper source(wow!) here:
http://download.nullsoft.com/winamp/client/winamp5091_pro.exe

You want PRO??
You do don't you. You wanna go Pro? (A bit like supersizing in MacDonalds except you don't contribute to the cruelty to animals en masse, you don't fill your body with an amazingly complex and dangerous array of crap chemical agents and food that isn't edible. Plus you are not helping to destroy the trees and rainforest that keep us all alive. So in fact it is nothing at all like supersizing MacDonalds.
Fuckin' MacDonalds. I'd love to decapitate its fat head.),
Ok go Pro.

I admit to having not given the Wallflowers a listen yet and seems I am pretty late to hear them.
As I write this I am listening to the album and already enjoying it very much.
The second track is definitely hitting the spot. Think US rock with maybe a splash of Irish about it (!), a touch of Dylan and maybe even a tad of bon Jovi and you're getting there.
Not usually something I'd go for but I have to say I do like about half of the tracks.
Catchy tunes.

Suggest what I post for you tomorrow at 3pm?
